Make Your Mark:

We are seeking a visionary, strategic, and hands-on Director, Accounting (General Ledger) to lead and scale our global General Ledger team. In this critical leadership role, you will own global GL operations, ensuring the precision, integrity, and timely execution of our financial records while serving as a key driver of modern finance transformation, process automation, and AI adoption.

In addition to driving core accounting execution and scaling global financial operations, you will contribute to BlackLine’s "Customer Zero" strategy by utilizing and validating our own product suite within our accounting workflows, sharing direct operational feedback with Product, and serving as a referenceable leader for customers.

The ideal candidate brings deep SaaS/enterprise software expertise, exceptional team leadership skills, and a passionate commitment to forging strong strategic partnerships across G&A functions and business units throughout the company.

You'll Get To:

Strategic Team Leadership & Talent Development

  • Lead, mentor, and scale a high-performing global General Ledger accounting team.

  • Build an innovative, high-trust team culture focused on continuous learning, career development, and modern, tech-enabled workflows in an evolving AI-driven workplace.

Global Close & General Ledger Operations

  • Own the global month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, ensuring flawless execution of journal entries, complex consolidations, intercompany transactions, account reconciliations, and financial flux analyses.

  • Ensure balance sheet integrity and accurate internal financial reporting in full compliance with US GAAP and corporate policies.

Finance Automation, AI Adoption & "Customer Zero"

  • Spearhead the continued adoption and optimization of AI-powered financial automation tools and machine learning features within BlackLine and modern ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Oracle).

  • Advance BlackLine's "Customer Zero" path as part of internal finance automation efforts—driving full internal adoption of BlackLine products, providing constructive feedback to Product teams, and serving as an executive reference for prospects and customers.

  • Streamline accounting workflows through AI-driven journal entry posting, intelligent anomaly detection, automated variance analysis, and predictive risk management.

Data Warehouse & Financial Reporting Tool Leadership

  • Lead accounting initiatives related to BlackLine’s enterprise data warehouse reporting tool, driving enhanced data accuracy, accessibility, and reporting efficiency.

  • Deliver actionable financial intelligence and smart analytics across balance sheet and P&L flux analyses to inform executive decision-making.

Strategic Cross-Functional Partnership

  • Establish deep strategic partnerships—moving beyond simple collaboration—across all G&A functions (Finance, Tax, Treasury, Legal, People/HR, IT) and key business stakeholders (Product, Technology, Sales/GTM, Data Science).

  • Align GL accounting operations, system enhancements, and reporting capabilities with company-wide strategic growth initiatives and technological roadmaps.

Audit, Governance & Internal Controls

  • Maintain a robust internal control environment in compliance with SOX requirements and governance policies over both human and AI-assisted accounting procedures.

  • Manage relationships with external auditors, facilitating smooth, transparent quarterly reviews and annual audit execution.

Accounting Policy & Technical GAAP Ownership

  • Research, document, and implement technical accounting policies to ensure business operations adapt seamlessly to changing accounting standards (US GAAP) and business models.

What You'll Bring:

Education & Credentials

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

  • Certification: CPA license required.

Experience

  • 10+ years of progressive accounting experience in high-growth enterprise software, SaaS, or technology sectors.

  • 4+ years of direct people management and team leadership experience.

Systems, Data & AI Mastery

  • Strong fluency with enterprise ERP platforms (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Oracle) and agentic finance platforms (BlackLine, etc.).

  • Strong enthusiasm for and practical experience with AI tools, automated financial workflows, and data warehouse reporting infrastructure.

Leadership & Vision

  • Proven ability to act as a strategic business partner across G&A and business operations.

  • Outstanding problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills with a track record of executing digital transformation programs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience participating in "Customer Zero" or internal software adoption and product feedback initiatives.

  • Hands-on experience deploying AI/RPA workflows, intelligent close tools, or advanced BI/data warehouse reporting tools.
