Yahoo serves as a trusted guide for hundreds of millions of people globally, helping them achieve their goals online through our portfolio of iconic products. For advertisers, Yahoo Advertising offers omnichannel solutions and powerful data to engage with our brands and deliver results.

About the team

Yahoo is the trusted guide to the internet and Yahoo Everywhere is our off-platform distribution engine. Instead of asking people to come find Yahoo, we bring Yahoo's content, apps,  tools, and brand to the browsers, devices, and apps people already use every day. We work across four verticals: browsers, OEM and SDK, consumer apps, and scaled partners. The team is small, senior, and built to move fast on a deal pipeline that spans household names and fast-growing challengers alike.

The role

We are hiring a Director of Business Development to own one or more partnership distribution verticals end to end: sourcing partners, structuring commercial terms, negotiating and closing deals, and staying hands-on through launch and renewal. You will work directly with product, engineering, design, legal, and finance to turn a signed deal into a live, monetizable surface, and with leadership to shape where Yahoo Everywhere plays next.

This is a builder role. You will spend real time in spreadsheets and growth models, not just in pitch decks, and you will be equally comfortable creating commercial structures as you are pitching a VP on why Yahoo belongs in their ecosystem.

What you will do
  • Build and manage a partner pipeline across one or more Yahoo Everywhere verticals (browsers, OEM and SDK, consumer apps, telco, or ambient and out-of-home).
  • Source, pitch, and negotiate distribution deals, from homepage syndication and app preloads to widget and SDK integrations, balancing financial KPIs with growth deliverables.
  • Own the full deal lifecycle: prospecting, business case, commercial terms, legal and contracting, launch, and renewal.
  • Partner with product, engineering, and design to scope integrations that are technically achievable and repeatable across similar partners, rather than one-off builds.
  • Build the financial case for each deal, working with StratFin and analytics on DAU, ARPDAU, and revenue-share modeling, and defend that case to internal stakeholders.
  • Manage relationships with active partners after launch, tracking performance against DAU and revenue targets and identifying expansion opportunities.
  • Represent Yahoo Everywhere in cross-functional planning, flagging dependencies on search, platform, legal, and monetization teams early and clearly.
  • Contribute to the team's playbook: standard deal terms, pitch materials, and prioritization criteria that let the team scale beyond bespoke, one-off negotiation.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders on implementation, GTM and renewal after the close.
  • AI Systems: work with our AI-integrated systems to prototype, deliver and communicate updates on key deals and initiatives.

What you bring
  • 10+ years in business development, strategic partnerships, or corporate development, specifically at a media, platform, OEM, or consumer technology company.
  • A track record of sourcing and closing complex, multi-stakeholder commercial deals, from first conversation to signed contract to live launch.
  • Comfort with deal economics: rev share, RPM and CPM models, ARPDAU, CPA and the tradeoffs between upfront guarantees and performance-based terms.
  • Experience negotiating with both large, process-heavy organizations and smaller, fast-moving partners, and the judgment to adjust your approach for each.
  • 2+ years of experience managing individual contributors.
  • Working fluency with product and technical teams; you do not need to write code, but you need to scope an integration credibly and know what is and is not a fast build.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, including the ability to build a business case that holds up under scrutiny from finance and legal stakeholders.
  • A bias toward action in ambiguous, fast-changing situations, with the discipline to still document terms, risks, and decisions clearly. A humble and collaborative style and approach.
  • A great sense of humor and ability to build and manage relationships with external and internal stakeholders alike.
  • AI Optimist: Willingness to develop, adapt or empower work streams using AI tools and services. A general curiosity about how this tech can change our work style and approach.

Nice to have
  • Experience in one or more of: browser or OEM partnerships, ad tech and rev-share tracking, consumer app distribution, or telco and carrier deals.
  • Familiarity with financial and corporate-development concepts such as EV or EBITDA, DCF, and comp sets, and how a distribution deal can factor into a broader brand narrative.
  • Prior experience building a partnership function or playbook from an early stage

How we work

Yahoo Everywhere runs on a just-in-time staffing model: product, design, engineering, and analytics support scale with the deal pipeline rather than sitting idle. That means you will operate with real ownership over your vertical and real accountability for its DAU and revenue impact, backed by a team that is set up to move as fast as the deals do.

The material job duties and responsibilities of this role include those listed above as well as adhering to Yahoo policies; exercising sound judgment; working effectively, safely and inclusively with others; exhibiting trustworthiness and meeting expectations; and safeguarding business operations and brand integrity.
