Role Overview

Poshmark is seeking a Director of Product Design to lead and elevate our end-to-end product design experience. This role will define how users discover, buy, interact and sell across our platform, shaping a seamless and engaging journey for both sides of our marketplace.

As a key member of the product leadership team, you will report to the Chief Product Officer and set the design vision, guide a talented team of designers and managers, and partner closely with Product, Engineering, Customer Research, Analytics and Marketing to deliver thoughtful, high-impact experiences. This role requires a balance of strategic leadership, strong design craft, prior working experience utilizing AI-based design tools, and deep understanding of marketplace ecosystems.

What You’ll Do

Design Vision & Strategy

  • Define and drive a cohesive, forward-looking design vision across Poshmark’s buyer and seller experiences ensuring that Poshmark’s product stays current with evolving design systems and industry trends.

  • Identify, socialize and utilize customer needs across the marketplace for both shoppers and sellers as an input to prioritize and develop a perspective on design priorities and decisions.

  • Align design strategy with company goals, ensuring meaningful impact on engagement, growth, and retention

  • Champion design as a strategic partner in shaping the product roadmap

  • Partner strategically with engineering to ensure great understanding & execution of our design thinking

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead, mentor, and scale a high-performing design organization, including career and skills development for designers at every level including managing managers, and mentoring junior designers.

  • Build a structured career ladder and path for our designers at all levels of their careers from junior individual designers to senior managers and set clear expectations and a culture of evolution and growth.

  • Establish clear design principles, systems, and processes to ensure consistency and quality

  • Foster a culture of excellence, inclusivity, and continuous growth

Marketplace Design

  • Oversee design for core marketplace journeys, including discovery, listing, selling, social interaction, and transactions

  • Design for a two-sided ecosystem, balancing the needs of shoppers and sellers to improve liquidity, trust, and overall marketplace health

  • Drive innovation in social commerce experiences, including feeds, sharing, and community engagement

Execution & Craft Excellence

  • Oversee design for the overall marketplace and core customer journeys. Maintain a high bar for design quality and innovation across customer journeys, and ensure smart alignment across mobile and web platforms.

  • Utilize design as a means to drive innovation in social experiences including community features

  • Provide hands-on direction through critiques, reviews, and selective individual contribution for new exploratory workstreams that require further review and refinement

  • Leverage customer insights derived from a combination of user feedback, research and quantitative data to inform and validate design priorities, decisions, and evaluate impact

  • Lead design execution, design systems, and operations across the product roadmap—owning intake, prioritization, and resourcing to ensure design is embedded in planning and focused on highest-impact work.

  • Build and scale clear systems for scoping, assigning, and reviewing work across a global, distributed design team, with strong visibility into portfolio priorities

AI Transformation

  • Lead the design team's transition to AI-powered workflows including systematic change in how the team prototypes, iterates, and ships

  • Partner with product and engineering on AI-native development models where design, PM, and eng are iterating together in real time rather than passing work sequentially

  • Use AI to extend design capacity and speed without sacrificing quality

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Partner closely with Product and Engineering leaders to define strategy and deliver impactful outcomes.

  • Collaborate with Brand, Creative and Marketing to ensure a cohesive, end-to-end user experience and that we deliver on a shared brand and product vision for Poshmark

  • Partner with Engineering to translate design systems into implementation standards, ensuring consistency across feature development.

  • Communicate design decisions clearly and influence stakeholders at all levels

  • Coordinate with team members who will report into you, and coordinate design work with you, from our India and Korea offices.
