Ready to join a mission that matters? The future of cybersecurity starts with you.

 About the Role

CrowdStrike stops breaches, and detection content is how we do it. The Cloud Detection Platform team builds the engines that execute detection logic in the cloud at massive scale, along with the infrastructure that lets detection engineers author, test, deploy, and manage that content safely across the entire Falcon fleet.

We are looking for a Director of Engineering to lead this platform. You will manage multiple teams responsible for our cloud detection engines (scheduled, real-time, and retrospective execution across first- and third-party data) and the supporting infrastructure: content management and deployment pipelines, rule lifecycle and exception management, testing and validation environments, and the observability, quotas, and SLOs that keep rule execution reliable and cost-effective for customers.

This is a high-leverage role at the center of CrowdStrike's detection strategy. Your platform serves detection engineers across endpoint, cloud, identity, and next-gen SIEM, and every improvement you ship translates directly into faster, higher-quality protection for thousands of customers.

What You'll Do

  • Own the multi-year strategy, architecture, and roadmap for the Cloud Detection Platform, from detection engines to the content delivery infrastructure that supports them
  • Lead and grow an organization of managers and senior engineers across multiple teams, owning the full talent lifecycle: hiring, coaching, performance, and succession
  • Be accountable for the reliability, latency, and cost of detection rule execution at fleet scale, including SLO definition, capacity and quota management, and COGS
  • Drive the evolution toward a unified multi-engine detection architecture, balancing scheduled search, real-time, and retrospective execution across engines
  • Partner closely with detection engineering, content, product management, and data platform teams to prioritize and deliver against roadmap commitments
  • Build the guardrails that make shipping detection content safe: pre-release validation, staged deployment, rollback, exclusion management, and end-to-end testing
  • Anticipate and manage escalations and cross-team dependencies, and represent the platform in architecture and planning forums across the product organization
  • Drive annual operating plan and organizational planning for your area, and reflect CrowdStrike's culture in how your teams operate

What You'll Need

  • 10+ years of software engineering experience, including 5+ years managing engineering teams and 2+ years managing managers
  • Experience owning large-scale distributed systems in production, ideally data-intensive platforms such as query/search engines, streaming systems, or rule/event processing pipelines
  • A track record of being fully accountable for strategic outcomes over one-to-two-year horizons, not just project delivery
  • Strong architectural judgment: you can engage credibly in design reviews, influence technical direction, and make build/buy/consolidate calls
  • Experience managing operational excellence for customer-facing services: SLOs, incident response, capacity planning, and cost management
  • Demonstrated ability to lead through ambiguity, including organizational change, competing priorities, and cross-team dependencies
  • Excellent communication skills with executives, peers, and engineers
  • Proven experience utilizing AI technologies to enhance decision-making, streamline workflows and processes, improve efficiency and drive business outcomes.

Bonus Points

  • Domain experience in security, detection engineering, SIEM, or threat intelligence
  • Experience with detection-as-code, content management systems, or rule authoring platforms
  • Experience with multi-tenant capacity management, fair-usage models, or COGS optimization at cloud scale
  • Experience integrating AI-assisted or agentic workflows into engineering practice
