Leads enterprise-wide financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, strategic analysis, capital allocation, risk management, and performance reporting. Partners with executive leadership and operational teams across offshore oil and gas assets to evaluate projects, manage KPIs, support liquidity and covenant planning, improve financial systems, and drive cost discipline and capital efficiency.
DESCRIPTION:
The Director of Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) is responsible for leading enterprise-wide financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and strategic financial analysis for our company. This role partners closely with Operations planning, Operations, Exploration & Development, Drilling & Completions, Supply Chain, Accounting, HR, IT, and Executive Leadership to drive financial discipline, capital efficiency, and operational excellence across offshore assets.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Strategic Financial Leadership
- Lead the annual budgeting process and monthly forecasting cycles with Executive and Senior Leadership.
- Develop long-range financial plans aligned with production targets, reserve development strategies, and capital programs.
- Manage strategy modeling and M&A scenario analysis.
- Provide financial modeling and scenario analysis related to commodity price sensitivity, hedging strategies, and capital deployment.
- Support Board and Executive Leadership presentations with clear, actionable financial insights.
Capital & Operational Analysis
- Conduct economic evaluation lookbacks (NPV, IRR, payout, breakeven) for development projects and acquisitions.
- Monitor lease operating expenses (LOE), lifting costs, and capital expenditures (CAPEX) trends to support capital allocation decisions.
- Support reserve reporting and asset valuation analysis in collaboration with technical teams.
Performance Management & Reporting
- Develop and maintain KPIs tied to production efficiency, cost control, and free cash flow generation.
- Analyze monthly operating results and provide variance analysis to leadership.
- Strengthen financial reporting tools and dashboards to enhance transparency and decision-making.
- Drive continuous process improvement within FP&A and across cross-functional workflows.
Risk Management & Compliance
- Assess financial risks related to commodity price volatility, operational downtime, regulatory changes, and capital projects.
- Support liquidity planning and covenant compliance analysis.
- Partner with Accounting to ensure alignment between operational forecasts and financial reporting.
- Ensure adherence to internal controls and corporate governance standards.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field.
- 10+ years of progressive financial experience, with at least 5 years in upstream oil and gas.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
- Strong understanding of offshore operations, capital project economics, and production reporting.
- Experience supporting publicly traded companies preferred.
- Advanced financial modeling and Excel proficiency; experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and planning tools required. Experience with Onestream is a plus.
- Strong analytical, communication, and executive presentation skills.
- Foster cross-functional collaboration between Finance and Operations.
- Promote financial accountability and cost discipline across the organization.
- Support sustainable growth through data-driven decision-making and capital stewardship.
CERTIFICATES & LICENSES:
- CPA, CFA or MBA preferred
