Director of Financial Reporting - NY, NY (Hybrid)

The Director of Financial Reporting will play a crucial role in the monthly close, financial statement preparation and reporting, variance analysis, and streamlining and improving accounting operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting principles, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. This position will require experience in technical accounting standards and applying such standards to new and changing operations within the company. This candidate will also be open to handling ad hoc tasks such as the operations around transitioning new acquisitions into the existing reporting model and consolidation. This is a newly created high-impact role for a financial reporting leader who enjoys building structure, improving processes, and partnering across the company support our outsized domestic and international growth

Duties/ Responsibilities: 

  • Oversee the consolidation of financial data of various entities including the reporting of revenue streams, brands and departments
  • Own the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP
  • Responsible for drafting all financial statement disclosures in accordance with GAAP
  • Support the Controller with completion of the annual financial statement audit working directly with the assigned public accounting firm
  • Lead the monthly and quarterly preparation of various financial reporting formats for management and other stakeholders
  • Provide the required quarterly reporting for Board presentations
  • Develop and implement financial reporting policies and procedures to enhance efficiency and accuracy
  • Prepare ad hoc financial reporting requests from brand teams, management, and stakeholders
  • Research accounting standards and prepare memos including the application and conclusion of such standards.
  • Proactively anticipate and communicate the application of any newly issued ASU’s that are applicable
  • Lead transition processes and onboarding for all new acquisitions

Required Skills/Abilities:  

  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards required
  • Excellent problem solving and team work’s skills with the ability to handle multiple projects effectively in a dynamic, fast paced environment
  • Proficient skills in Excel and PowerPoint
  • Proactive in adopting and engaging with AI tools to improve efficiency, accuracy, and decision-making
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with distributed teams and directly with management
  • Hands on and problem solving attitude

Education and Experience:

  • BS Degree in accounting
  • CPA highly preferred
  • 8–10 years of accounting/financial reporting experience, including a minimum of 5 years in public accounting
  • Experience with consolidations of multiple entities
  • Global consolidations and foreign currency accounting preferred
  • Operations experience preferred

Salary $140,000-$160,000 + target bonus
