Cytokinetics is a specialty cardiovascular biopharmaceutical company, building on its over 25 years of pioneering scientific innovations in muscle biology, and advancing a pipeline of potential new medicines for patients suffering from diseases of cardiac muscle dysfunction.

The Director, HCP Personal Promotion Marketing, will report to the Senior Director, HCP Marketing and serve as a key member of the US HCP Marketing Team. This role will lead development and execution of HCP personal promotion strategy and customer engagement initiatives critical to the successful launch and growth of our cardiovascular portfolio.

This is a unique opportunity to shape the commercial strategy for a potentially transformational therapy, build innovative marketing programs, and help create a best-in-class launch organization.

Key Responsibilities

Brand & HCP Strategy and Execution

  • Lead the development and execution of HCP marketing strategies aligned with brand objectives and overall commercial goals.

  • Develop customer segmentation, targeting, positioning, messaging, and promotional strategies for cardiologists and other relevant healthcare professionals.

  • Translate market insights into actionable strategies that drive customer engagement, adoption, and brand growth.

  • Serve as the HCP marketing lead and strategic thought partner for customer-facing teams.

  • Lead the development of personal and non-personal promotional initiatives, including sales force materials, customer engagement programs, and promotional campaigns.

  • Partner closely with Sales Leadership to develop and optimize field execution strategies and engagement plans.

  • Ensure brand strategy, customer insights, and promotional objectives are reflected across all HCP-facing materials and initiatives.

  • Identify opportunities to enhance customer experience through innovative engagement approaches and evolving promotional channels.

Launch Readiness & Commercial Leadership

  • Play a leadership role in launch planning and execution for investigational cardiovascular therapies.

  • Lead cross-functional teams in developing and implementing launch-critical programs and promotional initiatives.

  • Anticipate commercial opportunities and risks and develop proactive recommendations to optimize launch performance.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate closely with Market Research, Analytics, Sales, Medical Affairs, Corporate Affairs, Market Access, Value & Access Marketing, Regulatory Affairs, Legal, Compliance, and Commercial Operations.

  • Partner with Omnichannel Marketing to ensure coordinated and effective customer engagement across channels.

  • Support annual brand planning, tactical planning, and budget development processes.

  • Ensure all promotional activities are executed efficiently and in compliance with applicable regulatory and company requirements.

Insights & Performance Optimization

  • Leverage market research, competitive intelligence, customer insights, and performance analytics to inform strategic decisions.

  • Monitor market dynamics and evolving customer needs to refine brand and promotional strategies.

  • Identify gaps, opportunities, and areas for optimization across the commercial ecosystem.

Leadership

  • Provide leadership and influence as a member of the US Marketing Leadership Team.

  • Build strong partnerships across the organization to drive alignment, accountability, and excellence.

  • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required.

  • 5 plus years of pharmaceutical, biotech, or healthcare marketing experience.

  • Significant experience developing and executing HCP marketing and promotional strategies.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence without direct authority.

  • Strong strategic thinking, analytical, and communication skills.

  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Experience leveraging customer insights and data analytics to inform commercial strategy.

Preferred

  • MBA or other advanced degree.

  • Cardiovascular or specialty pharmaceutical marketing experience.

  • Experience launching a new product or indication in a competitive market.

  • Prior experience in Sales, Sales Leadership, or another customer-facing commercial role.

  • Experience working within an omnichannel customer engagement model.

Pay Range:

The salary range for this position is:
South San Francisco, California: $225,000-$262,500
Other US Locations: $238,500-$278,250
The base pay offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. Base salary is just one component of our competitive total compensation package, which includes equity in the form of stock options and/or restricted stock units, comprehensive health, dental, vision, life and disability insurance coverage, 401k retirement benefits with employer match, learning and wellness stipends, and paid time off. Note that benefits are subject to change and may vary based on jurisdiction of employment.
