About the Role
The Director of IT, Infrastructure Operations is responsible for the strategic advancement as well as the daily management of a comprehensive information technology portfolio, including both customer-facing product services and back office solutions. This portfolio includes a cloud native client services platform in AWS, geographically diverse data center hosted solutions, and SaaS based back office services.
 
This role requires a strategic focus on cloud native services in alignment with our overall company goals to deliver high quality products and services to our clients.  Our product offering requires the highest levels of quality, security, and reliability across a global network with around the clock support.
 
Specific areas of responsibility include the following: cloud/data center infrastructure and application operations, management of internal service delivery teams, providing a robust infrastructure to support product development, managing network services, database administration, DevOps, and supporting all areas of the business in a highly collaborative manner.
 
As a thought leader in the organization, you will recommend advanced technology solutions to further our objectives, develop and mentor a team of technology professionals, and manage vendor relationships and outsource partners. 
 
In this role, you will be responsible for defining and implementing an SRE strategy as the organization transitions from a traditional Operations model to a mixed SRE-Operations model. You will drive better visibility into KPIs working in partnership with the product teams, and proactively mitigate risks to application performance. You will work closely with product teams to understand their needs and identify opportunities to improve the reliability and availability of applications.

What You'll Do

  • Research, recommend and implement technology strategies to increase the quality and reliability of Business Wire applications, employee productivity, and operational efficiency.
  • Recruit, mentor, and motivate a high-performance IT operations staff.
  • Develop a clear and compelling long-term vision for IT Infrastructure and Operations, establishing OKRs and capabilities roadmaps that enable the organization's overall strategic goals and incorporate modern technology trends and innovations.
  • Oversee the administration of compute services including cloud, SD-WAN, virtual compute, storage, backups, disaster recovery, and local area networks.
  • Manage Network Operations, System Engineering, SRE, DBA and DevOps groups utilizing Agile methodology.
  • Drive the Change Management and Root Cause Analysis processes to ensure stability and continuing improvement in uptime.
  • Develop, manage, and report on infrastructure and operational SLAs.
  • Establish a culture of operational excellence and automation by designing and maintaining a portfolio of cloud and self-hosted applications/infrastructure, leveraging practices such as CI/CD and Infrastructure-as-Code.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive SRE strategy to ensure systems/applications are highly available and reliable, with minimal downtime or disruption to business operations.
  • Identify and mitigate potential risks that could negatively impact system reliability and availability.

What You'll Need

  • 10+ years of IT experience with a minimum of 3-5 years in a senior management role.
  • 5+ years of experience managing global 24x7 hybrid cloud environments, cloud migration, and the modernization of legacy applications.
  • 5+ years of experience in SRE or similar roles, with a strong emphasis on root cause analysis, observability, and problem management.
  • Expert understanding of and previous hands-on experience with data center, virtualization, IaC, infrastructure, back office, and engineering technologies.
  • Experience in CI and CD (GitOps Framework), DevSecOps automation and test automation with a drive for continual learning.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, written, and technical skills to lead the day-to-day activities of the team and build strong relationships with the extended organization.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects to completion.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work efficiently within a fast-paced environment.

    What We Offer
    The base salary range for this position is $200K to $225K/year.  Offered salary will be determined by several factors, including but not limited to: applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with geographic market data.  Business Wire reserves the right to modify this salary range at any time.
