Microsoft Cloud Operations and Innovation (CO&I) is the team behind the cloud. Within CO&I, the Engineering Procurement & Construction (EPC) organization is responsible for delivering core datacenter infrastructure for Microsoft’s cloud business. The MS portfolio consists of complex, multi-disciplinary, large scale, multi-year datacenter construction and lease projects. We are looking for a passionate, high-energy individual to help build the cloud datacenters that power the world’s largest online services.
The US West & Canada Integration and Technical Infrastructure Manager (ITIM) Build leader is a critical member of Microsoft’s Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) team, responsible for managing the team of Metro and Campus ITIM leads for Microsoft-owned systems and services in new data center builds. This role ensures timely delivery of technical infrastructure to support Microsoft’s cloud capacity needs. This is a people management role.

Manage a team of Metro ITIM leaders to support the EPC organization to deliver network fitout milestones. Identify, recognize and retain top performers and support the development of our long-term team growth goals in the US-West & Canada region. Perform regular visits to Metros within the US-West & Canada to support the team and build morale.
Technical Integration:
Coordinate procurement and installation of telecom systems, security systems, furniture/fixtures/equipment (FFE), and corporate network infrastructure.
- Collaborate with Data Center Engineering (DCE) and specialty consultants to review and execute design improvements.
- Lead the US-West ITIM team to deploy solutions at the metro and subregional levels to ensure business targets are met and we optimize speed to market.
Change Management
Leads the implementation of organizational policies and processes, in compliance with Cloud Operations + Innovation (CO+I) partners with a focus on cost savings, scheduling optimization, value engineering, enhanced customer service, or improved asset management.
Financial Acumen
Holds others accountable for identifying cost-effective solutions for the strategic and tactical delivery of a construction project. Develops and estimates project costs, budget management, and financial reporting.
Goal Alignment
Facilitates collaboration with other internal teams (e.g., Design, Construction, Procurement, Contracts, Security (OSSC), Information Technology (MSIT), Legal, Project Engineering, Business Risk Management, etc.) to maintain a shared vision and goals for the projects.
Project Management
Manages team's deployment of large-scale, campus, and/or regionally-based delivery solutions (e.g., new and/or retrofit data center solutions) while also socializing with regional leaders. Sets goals for internal and occasionally external project teams under their purview of responsibility, monitors completion of responsibilities, measures performance against contracted Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and seeks and delivers feedback to achieve timely results that prioritize security in documentation, design, and/or execution. Provides regular reports regarding performance, insights, issues, and site visits performed (e.g., photograph evidence).
Technical Acumen
Analyzes and recommends delivery options from a technical standpoint based on best practices and trends, supports the development and implementation of all organizational procedures and standards, and ensures they are followed by all team members and vendors with adherence to security core priorities and guidelines.
Safety and Regulation
Acts as a safety leader for the ITIM team; regularly engage with DCD Counterparts and ITIM Metro/Campus leads to drive process improvements and ensure compliance of subcontractor work with Microsoft safety policies. Reviews safe worksite(s) by adhering to organizational, industry procedures, and global safety policies. Reviews prior audit results and relevant legislation to manage safety and security compliance. Implements and manages safety performance improvement plans and any required mitigations. Shares lessons learned with relevant stakeholders.
Qualifications
Required/minimum qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Construction Project Management, Architecture, Engineering, or related field AND 12+ years related experience OR equivalent experience.
Other Requirements:
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Additional or preferred qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Construction Project Management, Architecture, Engineering, or related field AND 15+ years related experience OR equivalent experience.
- 15+ years experience working on data center projects.
- 10+ years project management experience.
- 10+ years people management experience.

Construction Project Management M6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $130,900 - $277,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $165,600 - $303,600 per year.
