About Interface.ai

Interface AI is redefining how financial institutions serve their members through agentic AI and conversational AI — and we're doing it in production, at scale, with real outcomes. $30M in Series A funding. Cash-flow positive. A mission that matters: democratizing financial wellness for every American, not just the ones who can afford a private banker.

About the Role

We're growing fast — and we need someone who thrives in that. interface.ai is scaling our San Francisco office from 15 to 50 people in the coming months, with a global team approaching 200 by year end. This is a founding role for People Operations in the US, and we're looking for someone who is equal parts operator, community builder, and strategic partner.

You'll own the full employee experience in our SF office — from the moment someone signs an offer letter to the rhythm of their daily work life. You'll also steward the physical space itself, making sure our environment reflects where we're headed, not just where we've been. If you love people, love details, and love having real ownership over something that matters, keep reading.

What You'll Own

People Operations — The full employee lifecycle: onboarding, policies, compliance, benefits coordination, and day-to-day employee experience.

HRBP — HR expertise directly within all business units to align people strategy — hiring, org design, performance, retention.

Workplace — Office space decisions, vendor relationships, and creating an environment people genuinely want to come into.

Culture — Programming, rituals, and moments that make interface.ai SF feel like a real community.

Responsibilities

  • Build and run a best-in-class onboarding experience that makes every new hire feel set up, welcomed, and genuinely excited from Day 1

  • Own HR operations end-to-end in the US: offer letters, policies, employee records, benefits administration, and compliance across federal and California regulations

  • Lead office space strategy — evaluate, negotiate, and manage our SF workspace as we scale, including vendor and facilities relationships

  • Create and maintain workplace programs, team events, and cultural touchpoints that bring our values to life in-person

  • Partner with the Head of People on talent and people strategy as we grow from 125 to 200+ globally

  • Be the go-to resource for employees navigating day-to-day questions around benefits, workplace needs, and HR topics

  • Build scalable systems and processes from scratch — you'll be the first US HR Ops hire, so this is a blank canvas

  • Serve as the heartbeat of the SF office; you'll know everyone by name, notice what's working (and what isn't), and take action

What We're Looking For

  • 7+ years of experience in People Operations, HRBP, and Office Management — ideally in a high-growth tech startup environment

  • Working knowledge of California employment law and HR compliance; you don't need to be a lawyer, but you need to know when to call one

  • Experience owning or co-owning an office space — vendor management, space planning, facilities decision-making

  • Exceptional organizational skills paired with the flexibility to pivot when the day goes sideways (and it will)

  • Strong communicator — warm and approachable with employees, professional and precise with stakeholders

  • A builder mentality: you see gaps and fill them, you see inefficiencies and fix them, and you don't wait to be asked

  • Genuine enthusiasm for culture — you think about what makes a workplace special and take that seriously

  • Comfort operating with autonomy in an ambiguous environment; you have strong instincts and the confidence to act on them

Bonus Points

  • Experience scaling a team through a hyper-growth period (doubling or tripling headcount)

  • Background in setting up HR infrastructure from the ground up at a startup

  • Familiarity with HR and ATS platforms (Rippling, Greenhouse, Lattice, Ashby or similar)

A Note on the In-Office Requirement

This role is in-office, five days a week in San Francisco. We believe great cultures are built in person, and this person will be central to making that happen. If that energizes you rather than giving you pause — you are exactly who we're looking for.

Why interface.ai

Series A · $30M raised · Cash-flow positive — we're not burning cash hoping the product works. It works. Customers are live, revenue is real, and the mission is one you can explain to your family without a slide deck.

You'll work directly with Bruce Kim (CTO / Co-Founder), who sets the technical bar and goes deep on the hardest problems, and Srinivas Njay (CEO), who is hands-on daily across product and engineering. Founding-team-tier equity, top-of-market base, comprehensive benefits, and a modern San Francisco office worth showing up to. The team is small enough that your judgment shapes everything, and the market is large enough that what you build will matter for a long time.

interface.ai is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees

What you need to know about the San Francisco Tech Scene

San Francisco and the surrounding Bay Area attracts more startup funding than any other region in the world. Home to Stanford University and UC Berkeley, leading VC firms and several of the world’s most valuable companies, the Bay Area is the place to go for anyone looking to make it big in the tech industry. That said, San Francisco has a lot to offer beyond technology thanks to a thriving art and music scene, excellent food and a short drive to several of the country’s most beautiful recreational areas.

Key Facts About San Francisco Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 365,500; 13.9% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Google, Apple, Salesforce, Meta
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, fintech, consumer technology, software
  • Funding Landscape: $50.5 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Sequoia Capital, Andreessen Horowitz, Bessemer Venture Partners, Greylock Partners, Khosla Ventures, Kleiner Perkins
  • Research Centers and Universities: Stanford University; University of California, Berkeley; University of San Francisco; Santa Clara University; Ames Research Center; Center for AI Safety; California Institute for Regenerative Medicine
