Director of Product — M&A, Strategy and Technology Partnerships
At Intelex, we are committed to empowering organizations to manage environmental, safety, and quality concerns while reducing their social, environmental, and human impacts. We provide advanced software solutions that help businesses around the world ensure compliance, reduce risk, and improve performance. As a global leader in Environmental, Health, Safety, and Quality (EHSQ) software, Intelex is continuing its mission to build sustainable business solutions that have real-world impact.
We are seeking a strategic and commercially driven Director of Product to own Intelex's inorganic growth agenda — including M&A, technology partnerships, and product strategy — alongside the company's market intelligence and competitive intelligence functions. This is a high-visibility, high-impact role that sits at the intersection of product, strategy, and business development, shaping how Intelex grows beyond its organic product portfolio.
Position Overview
As the Director of Product — M&A, Strategy and Technology Partnerships, you will be Intelex's primary decision-maker and owner for all inorganic growth activity and external technology relationships. You will lead the identification, evaluation, and execution of acquisition targets, technology partnerships, and strategic alliances that expand Intelex's product capabilities, addressable market, and competitive differentiation.
In parallel, you will build and own Intelex's market and competitive intelligence capability — establishing the systems, processes, and analytical frameworks that ensure every product, sales, and go-to-market decision is grounded in the best available external data. You will synthesize intelligence from customers, competitors, analysts, and market signals into actionable strategic insights that shape Intelex's roadmap, positioning, and investment priorities.
This role is ideal for a strategically minded leader with experience spanning product management, corporate development, or strategy consulting, who brings deep knowledge of the EHSQ, or adjacent enterprise software markets.
Key Responsibilities
1. M&A Strategy and Inorganic Growth
- Own Intelex's inorganic growth strategy end-to-end — from opportunity identification through due diligence, recommendation, and post-close integration planning.
- Define acquisition criteria aligned to Intelex's product strategy, target markets, and technology gaps, in collaboration with the CPTO and executive leadership.
- Build and maintain a proprietary pipeline of acquisition targets and strategic investment opportunities, drawing on market intelligence, analyst relationships, and industry networks.
- Lead product and technology due diligence on acquisition candidates, assessing product-market fit, technology architecture, customer base quality, and integration complexity.
- Partner with Corporate Development, Finance, and Legal to structure and execute transactions, ensuring product strategy alignment throughout the deal process.
- Own post-acquisition product integration planning — defining roadmap integration, product rationalization, and combined go-to-market strategy for acquired assets.
2. Technology Partnerships and Alliance Strategy
- Own all decisions on technology partnerships, including API integrations, OEM agreements, co-sell arrangements, and platform ecosystem relationships.
- Identify and prioritize technology partners that expand Intelex's capabilities, distribution reach, or competitive positioning — including ISVs, data providers, AI/ML vendors, and regulatory content partners.
- Lead partnership negotiations and structure commercial terms in collaboration with Legal and Finance, ensuring partnerships deliver measurable product and revenue value.
- Build and govern the Intelex technology partner ecosystem, defining tiering, onboarding standards, joint roadmap commitments, and partner performance criteria.
- Manage senior-level partner relationships, including executive alignment, roadmap co-development, and go-to-market collaboration with strategic partners.
- Evaluate build vs. buy vs. partner decisions for new product capabilities, providing structured recommendations to the CPTO and product leadership team.
3. Market Intelligence and Competitive Intelligence
- Build and own Intelex's market intelligence and competitive intelligence function — establishing the processes, tools, and analytical frameworks required to maintain an accurate, continuously updated view of the external landscape.
- Define and track the competitive landscape across the EHSQ, ESG, and adjacent markets — including product capabilities, positioning, pricing, GTM strategy, and customer win/loss patterns for key competitors and emerging point solutions.
- Synthesize win/loss analysis, analyst research (Verdantix, Gartner, Forrester), customer feedback, and market data into structured competitive briefs and strategic recommendations for product, sales, and marketing leadership.
- Monitor market dynamics including regulatory developments (CSRD, UFLPA, ISO updates, EPA enforcement), emerging technology trends (AI in EHS, supply chain traceability, ESG reporting), and M&A activity across the competitive landscape.
- Deliver regular executive-level market intelligence briefings, competitive positioning updates, and strategic threat/opportunity assessments to the CPTO and senior leadership team.
- Partner with Sales Enablement to translate competitive intelligence into sales battlecards, objection handling frameworks, and competitive response playbooks.
4. Product Strategy and Strategic Planning
- Contribute to Intelex's annual and multi-year product strategy, integrating market intelligence, competitive positioning, and inorganic growth opportunities into a coherent strategic narrative.
- Lead strategic analysis of new market entry opportunities — including vertical expansion, geographic growth, and adjacent product categories — providing data-driven investment recommendations.
- Own the product portfolio analysis framework, helping leadership make informed decisions on where to invest, expand, hold, or divest across the product catalog.
- Partner with the Product Management leadership team to ensure organic roadmap priorities are informed by external market data and aligned with inorganic growth strategy.
- Represent Intelex externally at industry analyst briefings, customer advisory boards, and market events as a strategic spokesperson for product direction and market positioning.
5. Stakeholder Management and Cross-functional Leadership
- Build strong working relationships with the CPTO, CEO, and executive leadership team, operating as a trusted strategic advisor on market, competitive, and inorganic growth matters.
- Collaborate closely with Product Management, Sales, Marketing, Finance, Legal, and Corporate Development to ensure strategic initiatives are resourced, aligned, and executed with rigor.
- Present complex strategic analyses and recommendations with clarity and conviction to senior leadership, the Board, and external stakeholders.
- Lead and develop a small team of analysts and intelligence specialists, building organizational capability in market research, competitive analysis, and strategic due diligence.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline required. MBA or advanced degree strongly preferred.
- 8+ years of experience in product strategy, corporate development, strategy consulting, or a combination thereof within enterprise SaaS or technology markets.
- Demonstrated experience owning or significantly contributing to M&A processes, including target identification, due diligence, and integration planning.
- Proven track record in building and managing technology partnerships, including commercial negotiation and joint go-to-market execution.
- Deep knowledge of the EHSQ and ESG markets strongly preferred. Familiarity with Intelex's competitive landscape is a significant advantage.
- Experience building or leading a market intelligence or competitive intelligence function, including analyst relations management.
Skills and Abilities
- Exceptional strategic thinking — able to synthesize complex market, competitive, and financial data into clear, actionable recommendations.
- Strong commercial acumen with experience structuring and evaluating technology partnerships and acquisition opportunities.
- Deep product intuition — able to assess product-market fit, technology architecture, and integration complexity of potential M&A and partnership candidates.
- Outstanding communication and executive presence — comfortable presenting strategic recommendations to C-suite and Board-level audiences.
- Data-driven analyst mindset with experience building competitive intelligence frameworks, win/loss programs, and market sizing models.
- Ability to operate with autonomy in ambiguous, high-stakes situations while maintaining strong cross-functional alignment.
- Strong negotiation skills with experience leading commercial discussions with external technology partners, vendors, and acquisition targets.
Preferred
- Experience working with enterprise software analyst firms (Verdantix, Gartner, Forrester) in a product or strategy capacity.
- Familiarity with regulatory frameworks driving EHSQ and ESG software demand: CSRD, UFLPA, ISO 45001, EPA PSM, OSHA, FDA 21 CFR.
- Experience in a high-growth SaaS environment with exposure to both organic product development and inorganic growth motions.
- Existing network within the EHSQ, safety, ESG, or industrial software ecosystem.
