The Enterprise Technology Services organization partners with every part of the American Express business to power the company’s growth and innovation with trust and efficiency and drive competitive differentiation with speed. We support the delivery and operations of technology, digital, and data capabilities, platforms, and services globally. Specifically, our team is responsible for the company’s technology engineering, architecture, and infrastructure, providing 24x7 support to ensure an uninterrupted, high-quality experience for customers and colleagues. We also provide product management for core enterprise platforms, and lead technology risk and information security, enterprise data governance and platforms, digital product and design, and enterprise AI platforms on behalf of the company.

The American Express Enterprise Cloud Product team is responsible for defining and delivering a unified multi-cloud platform strategy across Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Amazon Web Services (AWS), and Microsoft Azure. We build and manage cloud products that enable secure, scalable, and cost-efficient adoption of cloud capabilities across the enterprise.

Responsibilities

As the Director Product Management – Platform services, you will define and lead the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for Amex’s multi-cloud platform spanning GCP, AWS, and Azure. You will partner closely with engineering, security, architecture, and FinOps teams to deliver platform capabilities that enable developer productivity, governance, and innovation at scale.

This role is critical in driving cloud adoption, standardization, and optimization across the enterprise by building customer-centric cloud products, establishing reusable patterns, and ensuring alignment with business and technology strategy.

  • Define and own the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for enterprise cloud platforms across GCP, AWS, and Azure. 
  • Collaborate with security and risk teams to embed governance, compliance, and secure-by-design principles into cloud products. 
  • Lead cross-functional alignment across product, engineering, FinOps, and operations teams to deliver cohesive cloud experiences. 
  • Define and track product OKR’s, including adoption, developer experience, reliability, and cost efficiency metrics. 
  • Champion customer-centric design by gathering feedback from internal users (developers, platform teams, business units) and continuously improving cloud offerings. 
  • Drive cost optimization strategies across multi-cloud environments, working closely with FinOps teams. 
  • Stay ahead of industry trends in cloud, AI/ML, GenAI, and platform engineering to continuously evolve the product strategy. 
  • Build and mentor a high-performing product management team, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement. 

 

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, engineering, business, or a related field. 
  • 15+ years of experience in product management, with at least 5+ years leading cloud platform or infrastructure products in large enterprises. 
  • Strong experience across major cloud providers (GCP, AWS, Azure) with a deep understanding of their core services and ecosystem. 
  • Proven track record of defining and delivering platform products that drive enterprise adoption and developer productivity. 
  • Experience with cloud governance, security, and compliance frameworks in regulated environments. 
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD, infrastructure as code, and platform engineering concepts. 
  • Strong understanding of FinOps principles and cloud cost management strategies. 
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence senior leadership and drive alignment across organizations. 
  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to define metrics, measure outcomes, and make data-driven decisions. 
  • Certifications such as AWS certified solutions architect, Google cloud professional architect, or Microsoft azure solutions architect are a plus.
