The Director, Product Management - Search will own the vision, strategy, roadmap, and results for search and discovery. This leader will combine customer empathy, product judgment, technical fluency, and data-driven execution to make finding relevant inventory faster, simpler, and more intuitive.

Working closely with Engineering, Design, Data, Operations, Marketing, Customer Support, and other business teams, this role will turn complex Member and marketplace needs into scalable products that improve relevance, usability, personalization, and performance.

What You Will Do

Set the Search Strategy

  • Define and communicate the product vision, strategy, multi-year roadmap, and measurable outcomes for Search.
  • Build a deep understanding of Member behavior, pain points, and purchasing journeys through research, analytics, experimentation, and direct feedback.
  • Prioritize investments based on customer value, business impact, strategic alignment, technical complexity, and risk.
  • Monitor advances in search, personalization, recommendations, machine learning, AI, and digital marketplaces, applying them where they create practical value.

Own the Search and Discovery Experience

  • Lead the end-to-end experience across search results, ranking, filtering, sorting, recommendations, browse, and discovery.
  • Improve search relevance, accuracy, speed, usability, and personalization while keeping the experience simple and intuitive.
  • Partner with Data and Engineering to use vehicle, Member, behavioral, and marketplace data effectively and responsibly.
  • Create discovery capabilities that help Members find relevant inventory, including when they do not know exactly what they are looking for.

Deliver and Optimize Products

  • Lead products from discovery and requirements through development, launch, measurement, and continuous improvement.
  • Translate Member and business needs into clear requirements, acceptance criteria, prioritized backlogs, and release plans.
  • Manage cross-functional dependencies and balance long-term platform improvements with near-term Member experience gains.
  • Ensure solutions are scalable, reliable, secure, accessible, and supportable.
  • Define KPIs, dashboards, and structured tests for ranking, relevance, filtering, personalization, and user experience; use results to guide roadmap decisions.

Lead Across the Organization

  • Align Product, Technology, Data, Operations, Marketing, Customer Support, and business leaders on priorities, trade-offs, dependencies, and outcomes.
  • Champion the voice of the Member and represent Search in product strategy and executive planning discussions.
  • Communicate performance, decisions, risks, recommendations, and learnings clearly to senior leadership.
  • Lead, coach, and develop Product Managers, establishing clear ownership, decision rights, quality standards, and accountability.

What You Bring

  • 8+ years of progressive product management experience, including leadership of complex, customer-facing digital products.
  • Experience owning search, discovery, recommendations, personalization, marketplace, e-commerce, or similar data-intensive products.
  • Working knowledge of search relevance, ranking, information retrieval, recommendations, personalization, or machine-learning-driven products.
  • Demonstrated ability to turn ambiguous customer problems into clear strategies, roadmaps, requirements, and measurable outcomes.
  • Strong command of product analytics, KPIs, experimentation, prioritization, and data-informed decision-making.
  • Experience partnering closely with Engineering, Design, Data, Analytics, Operations, and other business stakeholders.
  • Clear, influential communication and sound judgment with senior technical and business leaders.
  • Ability to work from Copart’s San Francisco office and travel to operating locations, Dallas headquarters, and customers as needed.

How Success Will Be Measured

  • A clear Search strategy, roadmap, operating rhythm, and measurable product outcomes are established.
  • Impact on key search metrics, overall customer satisfaction and customer lifetime value.
  • Disciplined experimentation, transparent reporting, and data-informed road-mapping become standard practices.
  • Priority capabilities are delivered with quality, reliability, and execution discipline.
  • Strong alignment and accountability are established across Product, Technology, Data, Operations, and business leadership.
