At Carrum Health, we have built a unique marketplace for specialty care with unparalleled patient experience

Since 2014, we have been rewiring a fundamentally broken healthcare system. By connecting large employers directly with the nation's top-tier providers, our platform replaces a flawed fee-for-service model with one that actually works. If you are passionate about solving complex economic problems, driving systemic change in our healthcare system, and thriving in a people-first culture, we want you on our team. As a high-growth health tech company, we are seeking high-performing, exceptional talent to scale our platform and ensure that anyone in the country facing a specialty procedure has access to the life-changing Carrum benefit.

Our marketplace creates massive value for all stakeholders:

  • For Employers (Demand): Predictable, transparent pricing that slashes specialty care costs by up to 45% and eliminates waste

  • For Providers (Supply): Ability to gain market share while reducing administrative burden, empowering top-tier doctors to focus completely on delivering optimal care.

  • For Members (Users): A life-changing benefit with dedicated concierges, VIP access to the nation's best specialists, and little-to-no out-of-pocket costs.

The salary range for this role is $170,000 - $200,000 depending on geography and level of experience, plus equity and an annual bonus.

About the Role

Reporting to the VP of Provider Operations & AM, the Director, Provider Operations will build, scale, and lead the Provider Operations team designed to power Carrum’s growing provider network. In this role, you will partner closely with the VP of Provider Operations & AM and the Director of Strategic Account Management to house and own the delivery of operational OKRs across our Center of Excellence (CoE) network.

You will focus on transforming manual, high-touch processes into highly automated, scalable workflows. As an operations leader in the modern AI era, you excel at deploying AI tools and self-directed automation, scaling operations efficiently without relying solely on internal tech/data team bandwidth. You will own end-to-end provider billing operations in partnership with Finance and ensure operational alignment across all service lines (including total joint repair, spinal surgery, oncology, and bariatric services). You are an architect of operational excellence who excels at coaching team members, streamlining systems, and building the operational infrastructure required to support aggressive network growth.

You’re excited about this opportunity because you will...

  • Build & Scale a Dedicated Operations Team: Hire, mentor, and structure a high-performing Provider Operations team, establishing career paths, operational standards, and a supportive, coaching-oriented culture.

  • Own & Deliver Department OKRs: Partner directly with the VP of Provider Operations & AM and the Director of Strategic Account Management to establish, track, and execute departmental OKRs and operational key metrics.

  • Drive AI-Powered Automation & Workflow Optimization: Pioneer the adoption of AI technologies to automate manual friction points across implementation, data management, and ongoing account maintenance—enabling rapid team scale and self-sufficiency independently of engineering resources.

  • Oversee Provider Billing & Financial Operations: Own the operational mechanics of provider billing, invoicing, and financial reconciliations in close partnership with Finance and Provider Accounts to ensure speed, accuracy, and compliance.

  • Streamline Provider Implementation: Lead the operational architecture for bringing new health systems onto the Carrum platform, significantly reducing time-to-launch while upholding rigorous quality standards.

  • Drive Cross-Functional Alignment: Serve as the operational connective tissue between Provider Operations, Strategic Account Management, Clinical Care, Finance, Product, and Client Success.

  • Elevate Operational Metrics & Quality: Establish metrics-driven frameworks (such as CoE responsiveness and throughput benchmarks) to evaluate network efficiency and continuously elevate partner and member experiences.

We’re excited about you because…

  • 8+ years of experience in provider operations, healthcare operations, revenue cycle management, or health tech operations.

  • 3+ years of direct people management experience, with a proven track record of building, scaling, and structuring operational teams from the ground up.

  • AI & Automation Power User: Active, hands-on fluency using advanced AI platforms and data tools (such as Gemini, Claude, Hex) to automate operational tasks, build custom workflows, analyze data, and eliminate manual overhead.

  • Familiarity with Claude Code or developer-focused AI coding tools is a major plus.

  • Proven Operations Architect: Demonstrated experience identifying manual bottlenecks and designing automated, scalable systems both independently and in partnership with Product, Data, or Engineering teams.

  • Healthcare & Financial Operations Expertise: Deep knowledge of provider billing, invoicing, bundled payments, CPT/DRG coding, and health system revenue cycle mechanics.

  • Strategic & OKR-Driven: Experience co-owning department-level OKRs and key metrics in close partnership with executive leadership.

  • Cross-Functional Leader: Highly collaborative with exceptional communication skills, able to build strong working relationships across Finance, Product, Account Management, and Clinical teams.

  • Detail-Oriented & Analytical: Analytical mindset capable of turning complex operational data into actionable insights and process improvements.

  • HIPAA & Compliance Fluency: Strong understanding of healthcare privacy laws, data security, and risk management.

  • Startup Agility: Thrives in high-growth, fast-paced environments with a proactive, solution-oriented approach.

  • Travel: Willingness to travel ~10% as needed.

  • Entrepreneurial and resourceful — you’re a problem solver.

  • Experience handling deadlines, keeping many balls in the air, and prioritizing work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

  • Passion for collaborating cross-functionally with sales, operations, client success, data, and product teams to ideate, complete projects, and drive impactful results.

Why you’ll love working with us...

  • We’re a hard-working, humble, and compassionate group motivated to solve the hard problems in healthcare today. You’ll work with talented, experienced co-workers from companies like Booz & Company, Teladoc, Hinge Health, Accolade, Angi, and Optum.

  • We champion a collaborative environment where team members can be autonomous, receive support and healthy feedback, and bring their authentic selves to work.

  • We carve out time to celebrate our successes and have fun. We’re a remote-first company with employees all over the United States. We offer holistic employee support with flexible working hours, generous time off, paid parental leave, opportunities to connect virtually and in-person, and more.

  • We embrace our team’s diversity of thought, experience, and interests and know that doing so makes us stronger as a company. Carrum has an active employee-led Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Justice (DEIJ) committee alongside several employee resource groups (ERGs) that support parents, women, and various underrepresented groups.

  • You’ll feel proud that the work you do each day directly impacts people’s lives in big and meaningful ways.
