This role owns ASC 606 compliance, drives process efficiency and standardization across the quote-to-cash cycle, and serves as a trusted advisor to senior leadership—including the CRO—on complex deal structures and pre-execution commercial arrangements. The leader sets the standard for revenue accuracy, audit readiness, and financial integrity while building and developing a high-performing team. This leader brings both deep technical expertise and a forward-looking mindset, leveraging data analytics and emerging AI technologies to elevate how TrueCommerce manages, reports, and scales its revenue operations.

This role is a remote opportunity.

What You'll Do:

Technical Revenue Accounting & ASC 606 Leadership

  • Serve as the organization’s foremost technical authority on ASC 606, providing definitive guidance on revenue recognition for complex, multi-element SaaS arrangements including subscriptions, usage-based pricing, and bundled offerings.
  • Evaluate new products, pricing models, contract structures, and strategic transactions to determine appropriate accounting treatment; author technical accounting memos and position papers.
  • Maintain and continuously evolve revenue accounting policies to ensure consistent application of GAAP across the business.
  • Own end-to-end revenue accounting operations including recognition, deferred revenue, commissions, and close deliverables

Operational Excellence & Process Standardization

  • Design and implement scalable, standardized revenue accounting processes that deliver predictability, efficiency, and consistency across monthly, quarterly, and annual close cycles.
  • Establish structured review cadences and operational rhythms—reconciliation checklists, management reviews, variance analysis—to ensure repeatable, audit-ready outcomes.
  • Identify and eliminate process redundancy across revenue and billing operations; partner with the Billing team to drive accuracy, standardization, and efficiency at scale.
  • Lead documentation of all revenue accounting policies, procedures, and process flows to support scalability and institutional knowledge retention.

Revenue Analytics & Reporting

  • Build and oversee a revenue analytics capability that delivers timely, actionable insights to FP&A, Sales Operations, and executive leadership.
  • Design and maintain reporting frameworks that provide visibility into revenue trends, deferred revenue waterfalls, contract modifications, and commission expense.
  • Support forecasting and scenario modeling with revenue-specific analysis to enable confident, data-driven decision-making across the organization.
  • Partner with FP&A on revenue inputs to financial planning, board reporting, and other senior-audience materials.

Technology Enablement & AI Leverage

  • Champion the adoption of AI and automation tools to improve the speed, accuracy, and scalability of revenue accounting workflows.
  • Evaluate and implement solutions that leverage AI-assisted capabilities for contract review, anomaly detection, and reporting automation.
  • Partner with Systems and IT on ERP enhancements (NetSuite/SuiteBilling), billing system improvements, and integrations that underpin revenue operations.
  • Stay current on emerging technologies and finance innovation to continuously modernize the revenue accounting function.

Strategic Advisory & Senior Leadership Support

  • Act as a trusted finance advisor to the CRO and other senior leaders on pre-execution deal structuring, contract terms, and commercial arrangements with revenue accounting implications.
  • Support deal desk activities by providing real-time guidance on revenue treatment for non-standard or complex transactions.
  • Advise on the financial reporting implications of strategic initiatives, partnerships, and contract modifications to support well-informed leadership decisions.
  • Engage in high-judgment, confidential financial analysis projects requiring executive-level discretion and technical depth.

Cross-Functional Leadership & Quote-to-Cash Optimization

  • Partner with leaders across Sales Operations, Billing, Legal, IT, and FP&A to drive systemic improvements to the end-to-end quote-to-cash process.
  • Lead or participate in cross-functional working groups to resolve process gaps, improve data quality, and strengthen controls at critical handoff points.
  • Serve as the senior escalation point for revenue accounting questions across the organization, building credibility as a trusted, knowledgeable partner.

Audit Readiness & Financial Integrity

  • Own the revenue accounting relationship with external auditors, ensuring clean, well-documented deliverables that reflect the highest standards of financial integrity.
  • Oversee preparation and review of audit schedules, technical memos, and supporting documentation across all revenue-related areas.
  • Maintain and strengthen internal controls over revenue processes to ensure SOX-readiness and compliance with GAAP, ASC 606, and company policies.
  • Cultivate a culture of precision and credibility across all revenue accounting activities, setting an uncompromising standard for quality.

People Leadership & Team Development

  • Build, lead, and develop a high-performing revenue accounting team; attract top talent and establish clear career pathways within the function.
  • Provide mentorship, coaching, and performance management to foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and professional excellence.
  • Establish clear roles, responsibilities, and capacity models to scale the function in line with company growth.
  • Model and reinforce the values of accuracy, integrity, and credibility in every aspect of the team’s work.

Requirements for Success:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA required.
  • 12+ years of progressive accounting experience, including significant revenue accounting leadership in a SaaS or technology company.
  • Deep technical expertise in ASC 606 and SaaS revenue models (subscriptions, usage-based, multi-element arrangements); demonstrated experience authoring technical memos.
  • Proven people leader with a track record of building, developing, and retaining high-performing accounting teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to partner with and influence senior leaders, including C-suite executives, on complex financial and commercial matters.
