About the Role

As Director of Social at Chime, you’ll define how our brand lives in culture — and lead the team that brings that vision to life. Your role extends beyond content creation; you'll align our social media efforts with the company's broader marketing goals, ensuring we capture attention, and drive engagement. Harnessing data-driven insights, your leadership will refine and elevate our approach, building on Chime’s recent acclaim as one of TIME's World's Best Brands of 2024, and pushing the boundaries of how a banking app connects with its community.

The base salary offered for this role and level of experience will begin at $168,570 and up to $238,900. Full-time employees are also eligible for a bonus, competitive equity package, and benefits. The actual base salary offered may be higher, depending on your location, skills, qualifications, and experience.

In this role, you can expect to
  • Own and evolve Chime’s social media vision and strategy, ensuring it aligns with brand and business goals while pushing creative boundaries across platforms.
  • Lead the day-to-day execution of social campaigns across Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, X, Facebook, Threads and emerging platforms — balancing always-on content with tentpole moments.
  • Mentor and empower a team of social strategists, providing clear direction, fostering creativity, and championing their growth and development.
  • Translate insights into action — use data, cultural trends, and audience behavior to shape content strategies, inform campaign direction, and continually optimize performance.
  • Act as the brand’s real-time voice — leading how Chime shows up in trending moments, cultural conversations, and community dialogue.
  • Be the driving force behind creative risk-taking and innovation, staying ahead of platform updates, content formats, and creator partnerships to keep Chime at the forefront of social and culture.
To thrive in this role, you have
  • 10+ years of experience in social media marketing, brand strategy, or digital content, with 5+ years leading high-performing teams in a fast-paced, creative environment.
  • Proven success developing and scaling multi-channel social media strategies across platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube, with a strong comprehension of emerging channels.
  • Deep knowledge of social-first storytelling, content trends, platform algorithms, and cultural moments — with a track record of building culturally relevant and high-performing content.
  • Strong cross-functional collaborator, experienced in partnering with Creative, Brand, Product Marketing, Compliance, and Growth teams to deliver integrated campaigns.
  • Highly data-literate and performance-driven, with experience setting KPIs, using social analytics and insights to optimize strategy, and communicating results to leadership.
  • Exceptional communication and leadership skills, with a passion for mentoring and developing talent and building inclusive, creative team cultures.
  • A curious mind that spots emerging trends early — and a proactive spirit with a bias for action.
