The Problems You’ll Solve

At Carta, our employees set out on a mission to unlock the power of equity ownership for more people in more places. We believe that the problems we solve today unlock the opportunities of tomorrow. As a Director of Strategic Finance for GTM, you’ll work to:

  • Build deep partnerships with Sales and Marketing Leadership by providing strategic decision support across all areas of investment, delivering high-level financial results, and identifying emerging market trends.
  • Own and continuously improve GTM capacity planning and headcount forecasting; drive alignment between Sales, Marketing, Finance, and Recruiting to ensure investment levels are tied to growth targets
  • Develop frameworks for translating complex GTM strategies into measurable financial reporting with the goal of optimizing target setting for revenue and operating investments
  • Own and evolve GTM KPIs and ROI frameworks (CAC, LTV, Payback) to guide decision-making that aligns with the company’s long-term objectives.
  • Partner with Sales leadership on target setting, quota design, rep productivity assumptions, and territory planning — translating growth objectives into a headcount and capacity model the GTM org can execute against
  • Lead quarterly analysis and reporting of financial results, including executive-level variance analysis, ensuring key risks and business drivers are proactively highlighted
  • Drive total alignment between Sales, Marketing, and Delivery teams on ARR, new business targets, and long-range capacity planning
  • Leverage automation and AI tools — including Pigment and emerging AI capabilities like Claude Code — to scale existing forecasting processes, reduce manual work, and improve forecast accuracy over time. The foundation is in place; your role is to build on it
The Team You’ll Work With

This is a high-impact leadership role on Carta’s Strategic Finance team supporting our Sales & Marketing organizations and leading our GTM Strategic Finance team.  The team generates deep insights into business performance, and provides Carta’s executive leadership team with critical decision-making support. In this role, you’ll be part of a highly dynamic team architecting the growth of Carta and the future of private capital markets. You will serve as the primary strategic finance business partner to our Chief Revenue Officer and Chief Marketing Officer.

About You
  • 8+ years of FP&A or Strategic Finance experience within the technology industry. Deep familiarity with SaaS business models is required, along with 3+ years of experience leading high-performing teams
  • You are capable of managing executive relationships, high-stakes deliverables, and complex expectations with your business partners
  • You are an expert in financial modeling and quantitative analysis who thrives on solving complex, unstructured problems and influencing senior business partners
  • Extensive experience supporting Sales or Marketing teams in a Finance or Operations leadership role; specific expertise in Headcount and Capacity Planning
  • You are comfortable operating with a degree of organizational ambiguity — including establishing credibility quickly with stakeholders
  • Demonstrated success in managing and developing high-performing finance professionals
  • Deep experience with systems such as Netsuite, Pigment, Salesforce, Workday, and G-Suite. Familiarity with BI tools such as Looker is a plus. Genuine interest in AI-assisted finance workflows — we use these tools actively, not aspirationally
  • You are personable, approachable, and able to collaborate constructively with every person across the business, from analysts to the C-suite

At Carta, you’re not just an employee. You’re a builder who is creating  infrastructure that accelerates innovation and empowers more ownership. Cartans are helpful, relentless, unconventional and kind; representing Carta’s Identity Traits. They work collaboratively and cross functionally  to challenge the status quo; working towards a common goal of creating more owners in the private markets.

  • $217,500 - $290,000 in San Francisco, CA
