Director, Healthcare Business Development (Consumer Healthcare Payments)
Overview
Healthcare payments is a strategic growth vertical for Mastercard, with significant opportunity across consumer and commercial healthcare payments. The US Healthcare Business Development team partners with healthcare organizations to address challenges related to healthcare affordability, benefit utilization, patient engagement, B2B/P2P payment and reimbursement inefficiencies, patient collections, and the overall consumer payment experience.
The Director, Healthcare Business Development, will drive growth of Mastercard's consumer healthcare payment solutions across new and existing customers. This includes Health Savings Accounts (HSAs), Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs), Health Reimbursement Arrangements (HRAs), supplemental healthy benefit programs, patient disbursements, reimbursement solutions, and other healthcare consumer payment experiences.
This role will lead relationships with health plans, benefit administrators, employers, providers, healthcare technology companies, and ecosystem partners by leveraging Mastercard's payment capabilities, data assets, digital solutions, cybersecurity offerings, and services. Through consultative selling, you will identify, develop, and close opportunities that position Mastercard as a trusted partner in consumer healthcare payments.
The position reports to the VP, Healthcare Business Development.
Role• Drive revenue growth and expand Mastercard's healthcare payments portfolio.• Identify and close opportunities across health plans, benefit administrators, employers, providers, fintechs, and healthcare technology organizations.• Serve as a trusted advisor by delivering solutions that improve benefit utilization, healthcare affordability, patient experience, and payment efficiency.• Develop and manage executive-level customer relationships and strategic partnerships.• Maintain a strong understanding of healthcare consumer payments, including HSAs, FSAs, HRAs, supplemental benefits, incentive programs, and patient reimbursement/disbursement solutions.• Build and manage a sales pipeline to achieve revenue and growth objectives.• Collaborate with Product, Healthcare, Marketing, Finance, Data & Services, Cyber & Intelligence, and issuer and merchant teams to bring innovative solutions to market.• Provide customer and market insights that influence Mastercard's strategy, partnerships, and product development.• Develop compelling business cases, proposals, and presentations for senior stakeholders.• Travel up to 25%.All About You
The ideal candidate will:• Have a proven track record of driving revenue growth and developing strategic customer relationships.• Possess deep knowledge of the consumer healthcare ecosystem, including health benefits, healthcare payments, member engagement, and patient financial experiences.• Understand the needs of health plans, TPAs, benefits administrators, employers, providers, and healthcare technology organizations.• Excel at consultative selling, partnership development, negotiation, and executive-level relationship management.• Communicate complex healthcare, payments, and technology concepts clearly and effectively.• Be a resourceful, results-oriented leader who thrives in cross-functional environments.• Demonstrate experience in healthcare payments, health benefits, fintech, financial services, healthcare technology, or related industries.• Have experience selling, developing, or managing complex payment, benefit, or technology solutions.• Bring a passion for healthcare innovation, payments, and emerging consumer financial experiences.
Preferred Experience• Consumer healthcare payments and health benefit programs (HSA, FSA, HRA, supplemental benefits).• Patient reimbursement, disbursement, and affordability solutions.• Payment networks, financial services, digital payments, or healthcare technology.• Complex partnership negotiations and go-to-market execution.• Influencing product strategy through customer and market insights.

In line with Mastercard's total compensation philosophy and assuming that the job will be performed in the US, the successful candidate will be offered a competitive base salary and may be eligible for an annual bonus or commissions depending on the role. The base salary offered may vary depending on multiple factors, including but not limited to location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Mastercard benefits for full time (and certain part time) employees generally include: insurance (including medical, prescription drug, dental, vision, disability, life insurance); flexible spending account and health savings account; paid leaves (including 16 weeks of new parent leave and up to 20 days of bereavement leave); 80 hours of Paid Sick and Safe Time, 25 days of vacation time and 5 personal days, pro-rated based on date of hire; 10 annual paid U.S. observed holidays; 401k with a best-in-class company match; deferred compensation for eligible roles; fitness reimbursement or on-site fitness facilities; eligibility for tuition reimbursement; and many more. Mastercard benefits for interns generally include: 56 hours of Paid Sick and Safe Time; jury duty leave; and on-site fitness facilities in some locations.
Pay Ranges
Purchase, New York: $182,000 - $291,000 USD
Remote - Alabama: $158,000 - $253,000 USD
