About the Role

BizFirst is seeking a DoD Financial Management (FM) System Transformation Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support large-scale modernization efforts across Department of Defense financial systems. This role focuses on retiring legacy FM systems and supporting the transition and transformation to modern, integrated financial platforms, while ensuring compliance with DoD financial policy and reporting standards.

The ideal candidate brings deep functional knowledge of DoD FM systems and understands how accounting policy, reporting requirements, and system design intersect during enterprise transformations.


Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a SME supporting DoD financial system modernization and transformation initiatives
  • Advise on the retirement of legacy FM systems and transition planning to new financial platforms
  • Provide functional expertise across DoD FM systems such as GFEBS, Navy ERP, SABRS, DAI, or similar environments
  • Support system transition activities including data migration, reconciliation, validation, and cutover planning
  • Ensure transformed systems align with DoD financial management policy, reporting requirements, and audit readiness standards
  • Collaborate with government stakeholders, system integrators, and functional leads to translate business requirements into system capabilities
  • Identify risks related to system transformation, including impacts to financial reporting, controls, and data integrity
  • Support testing, user acceptance, and post-implementation stabilization activities
  • Document transformation approaches, functional decisions, and lessons learned

Required Qualifications

  • Extensive experience in the DoD financial management systems domain
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience with one or more DoD FM systems (e.g., GFEBS, Navy ERP, SABRS, DAI)
  • Strong understanding of DoD financial reporting and accounting requirements
  • Experience supporting system retirement, transition, or modernization efforts
  • Ability to bridge functional financial management needs with system and technical teams
  • Strong communication skills and ability to operate independently across complex programs

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting enterprise-level DoD financial modernization programs
  • Prior involvement in audit readiness or remediation efforts tied to system transformations
  • Experience working in both classified and unclassified environments
