Summary
This position reports to the Head of Oncology Early Stage Development and is involved in strategic oversight of a substantial proportion of the early pipeline. Manages multiple Global Development Product Leads and lead the direction, planning, execution, and interpretation of clinical trials or research activities across several early stage clinical development programs. In addition to oversight of novel early stage development programs within the Pfizer portfolio, they function as a scientific/medical resource at Pfizer including but not limited to substantial support of business development clinical diligence activities and process improvements.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $330,200.00 to $514,400.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer's Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 30.0% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program. Responsibilities
- Serve as a group lead within Early Stage Development with strategic oversight of a substantial proportion of the early pipeline
- Contribute to the cross-functional strategic development of early stage programs from pre-IND to end of Phase 1 proof of concept
- Support business development assessments and diligence including design of clinical development plans
- In some circumstances, serve as temporary coverage for Global Development Product Leads of early stage program(s), leading early stage product teams and clinical study teams, and providing appropriate medical monitoring for ongoing clinical studies on interim basis
- Contribute to review of IND application documents, clinical protocols, investigator brochures, clinical study reports, and other regulatory documents
- Collaborate with research and translational sciences to interpret how preclinical and nonclinical data may inform clinical strategy
- Evaluation of safety, pharmacology, biomarker, and efficacy data from ongoing and completed studies
- Contribute to review of manuscripts, abstracts and presentations for scientific meetings and advisory boards.
- Conduct literature reviews and prepare summaries to support clinical development programs
- Medical resource for design and interpretation of clinical and preclinical programs to support existing and new development candidates
- Collaborate with a variety of internal and external partners and stakeholders, such as HAs, clinical investigators, clinicians, scientists and key opinion leaders (KOLs)
- Drive cross-functional initiatives to contribute to process improvements, training, and other workstreams to support the clinical development and the overall business
- Oversee and manage Global Development Product Leads to ensure cross-functional collaboration, scientific excellence, efficiency, crisp decision-making, and appropriate risk mitigation.
- Serve as a leader who attracts, hires, motivates, and develops talents
Qualifications
- Extensive experience in early stage clinical trial design and execution
- Deep understanding of cross-functional drug development from preclinical through commercial stages
- Strong executive leadership presence and the ability to work effectively with other cross-functional leaders
- Strong track record of mentorship and/or management
- Passion for helping patients with cancer and for the science of oncology
- Collaborative with internal company leadership, external development partners and investigators/medical professionals
- A team player, works well in a team environment both as a leader and a key contributor
- Global perspective and mindset, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues from myriad cultures, backgrounds and geographies
- MD or MD/PhD
- Clinical oncology experience; Board certification in oncology and/or hematology preferred
- 10+ years industry experience in oncology drug development preferred
