UCT is looking for a talented Engineer V to join us in Fremont, CA!

The Engineer V is a senior‑level technical expert responsible for leading highly complex engineering initiatives and solving critical business and technical challenges. This role provides deep subject‑matter expertise, drives technical strategy, and influences engineering standards and best practices across the organization. Operating with broad autonomy, the Engineer V partners with cross‑functional leaders to design scalable solutions, mentor engineering talent, and ensure engineering outcomes align with long‑term business objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Lead the design, development, and implementation of complex engineering solutions with enterprise or global impact.
  • Serve as a technical authority and subject‑matter expert within a defined engineering discipline.
  • Define engineering standards, architectures, and best practices to ensure quality, scalability, and reliability.
  • Provide strategic technical guidance to project teams, leaders, and stakeholders.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend adoption when aligned with business objectives.
  • Resolve high‑risk, high‑complexity technical issues that impact performance, cost, or continuity.
  • Mentor and coach junior and mid‑level engineers; support technical career development.
  • Collaborate across engineering, operations, quality, IT, and business teams to drive integrated solutions.
  • Contribute to long‑range planning, technology roadmaps, and innovation initiatives.
  • Ensure solutions comply with applicable standards, policies, and regulatory requirements.

Knowledge, Skills, Experience:

  • Minimum Qualifications
    • Extensive experience in an engineering role with progressive technical responsibility.
    • Recognized expertise in a specific engineering domain or technology area.
    • Demonstrated ability to lead complex technical initiatives without direct authority.
    • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and systems‑thinking skills.
    • Proven ability to influence technical direction and engineering outcomes at an enterprise level.
  • Preferred Qualifications
    • Experience architecting or designing enterprise‑scale or mission‑critical systems.
    • Demonstrated success driving innovation, optimization, or transformational improvements.
    • Experience across multiple engineering disciplines or technologies.
    • Strong mentoring, knowledge‑sharing, and technical leadership capabilities.

Education, Certifications, Requirements: 

  • Minimum Qualifications
    • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field
  • Preferred Qualifications
    • Master’s degree or advanced technical training
    • Professional engineering license or advanced technical certifications, as applicable
    • Formal leadership, architecture, or advanced engineering training

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $129,500.00 and $207,200.00/year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including variable pay and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO (Paid Time Off) and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these additional compensation and benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.  

If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
