What you'll do:
- Develop highly integrated subsystems to resolve packaging challenges, ensuring design best practices and criteria are maintained.
- Develop and integrate engineering criteria for components collaborating closely with Vehicle Architecture, Studio Styling and Release Engineer teams.
- Apply DFSS and design-thinking methodologies to manage trade-offs and evaluate alternatives considering cost, mass, timing, dimensional variation, assembly, and other architectural imperatives.
- Integrate global and regional safety requirements into vehicle architectures, developing solutions that exceed standards.
- Actively communicate with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve technical challenges within Expert Team meetings for your area of responsibility.
- Ensure that subsystems align with safety, occupant accommodations, storage, and accessibility.
- Participate in CITs and SDIT Workgroups to balance innovation, design for assembly, manufacturability and design best practices.
- Benchmark competitors to ensure packaging and component performance meet or exceed industry standards.
- Create and maintain NX models for surface guidance and space claims, continuously developing your NX skills.
- Incorporate Voice of the Customer insights into packaging and design solutions to maximize space utilization and enhance customer experience.
- Support Math Virtual Assessments and Synch Point reviews to validate design integrity and integration.
Your Skills & Abilities (Qualifications)
- 3-5+ years' experience in Interior, Electrical, Exterior, Chassis components & Accessories parts
- B.S. in Engineering or related field or equivalent experience
- Advanced NX CAD Modeling Skills
- Advanced use of Teamcenter and TcVis
- Understanding of engineering theory and principles of automotive design
- Understanding of design for manufacturing and design for assembly
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Utilization of benchmarking toolsets
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and with others
- Aptitude to integrate complex interior subsystems and a passion for innovation
- Excellent organizational skills
- Understanding of Engineering Specifications
- Understanding of human to vehicle interface
