Lead and scale Peregrine's core platform: define technical direction, build and manage large engineering teams, ensure resilience, observability, and production readiness, enable product teams to ship faster, and establish platform operating models and practices across cloud and AI infrastructure.
The summary above was generated by AI

Backed by leading Silicon Valley investors, Peregrine helps public safety organizations, state and local and governments, federal agencies, and private-sector institutions address society’s challenges with unprecedented speed and accuracy. Our AI-enabled platform turns siloed and disconnected data into operational intelligence — instantly surfacing mission-critical information to empower better, faster decisions that improve outcomes at every touchpoint. Today Peregrine supports hundreds of customers across 30+ states and two countries, serving more than 125 million people — and we’re amplifying our impact as we expand into the enterprise and internationally.

Our Team

As an engineering team, we believe strongly that empathy improves our solutions. Seeing how people use the product is a priority and the way we get to the right answer. Engineers will have the opportunity to work closely with our team onsite to understand the variety of use cases that Peregrine serves.

We’re looking for an Engineering Manager to join our core engineering teams. You’ll work cross-functionally with design and product management to build systems that are robust, scalable, and user-centered. Our teams tackle a range of challenges, from enabling real-time user collaboration on detailed maps to building high-scale backend architecture for ingesting billions of data points.

We value both ownership and collaboration—you will take full responsibility for major features and work closely with other engineers to drive them to completion. We believe that humility and empathy are essential for building the right solutions—you will collaborate directly with our deployment team and users as we iterate to solve their problems. Perseverance and creativity are crucial to executing our vision.

Role

This role sits at the heart of Peregrine’s platform strategy and execution. You will define how our core systems scale, perform, and evolve as Peregrine continues its rapid growth and deepens its impact across public safety, government, and enterprise customers.

As a senior platform leader, you won’t just run systems, you’ll set the technical direction, build the team, and establish the operating model that enables every product team at Peregrine to move faster, safer, and with confidence. Your work will directly shape reliability, developer velocity, customer trust, and the company’s ability to innovate at scale. This is a role for someone who thrives at the intersection of technical vision, people leadership, and operational excellence, and who wants to leave a lasting architectural and cultural imprint on a fast-growing, mission-driven company.

Peregrine’s platform is the foundation that everything else is built on. As our customer footprint, data volume, and AI capabilities expand, the quality of our platform — its observability, reliability, and scalability — becomes a strategic advantage.

In this role, you will:

  •  Enable product teams to ship faster with confidence
  • Ensure our systems are resilient, observable, and production-ready at scale
  • Build the engineering culture and practices that allow Peregrine to grow without slowing down
  • Translate complex operational signals into clear decisions that improve performance and customer outcomes

Simply put: this role determines how well Peregrine scales — technically, operationally, and organizationally.

About you

  • A proven leader who has successfully managed and scaled large (30+), high-performing software teams
  • Deeply experienced in building and operating distributed systems in real-world production environments
  • Comfortable operating at both 10,000 feet (strategy, architecture, org design) and ground level (execution, metrics, incident learning)
  • A collaborative partner who works effectively across functions, time zones, and disciplines
  • Passionate about observability, operational insight, and enabling engineers to move fast without breaking things
  • A strong advocate for modern engineering practices — CI/CD, automation, testing, and iterative delivery
What we look for
  • Deep expertise in modern platform architecture, including databases, APIs, observability, DevOps, and AI infrastructure
  • Strong command of logs, metrics, traces, and alerting — and how to turn raw signals into actionable insight
  • Experience running containerized systems and orchestration platforms at scale
  • Hands-on experience deploying and operating systems in major cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
  • Prior exposure to AI infrastructure and the unique operational challenges it introduces
  • This role requires in-office collaboration 4 days a week

Salary Range: $280,000 - $300,000 Annually + Benefits + Equity (if applicable) + Bonus (if applicable)
