About Overview

Overview.ai is transforming manufacturing quality control with an advanced edge-enabled AI vision system that combines cutting-edge deep learning with ease of use and quick setup. Our system handles a wide array of inspection tasks—from subtle assembly verification to defect detection and orientation checks—delivering real-time, high-accuracy inspections that seamlessly integrate into existing production lines.

Trusted by leading manufacturers like SpaceX, Tesla, Toyota, Ford, and Honda, our cameras enable faster throughput, reduced scrap, and lower inspection costs—without the complexity and expense of traditional vision systems.

As our engineering organization continues to grow, we are seeking Engineering Managers to lead teams that build the core product platform. You will oversee execution of the technical roadmap for core products and manage the team to deliver world-class industrial AI products. This is a hands-on leadership role with high visibility and significant impact on the future of our products and engineering organization. To be effective in this role, you should have a strong technical background and be comfortable diving deeply into technical details and understanding complex systems, while effectively managing a team of engineers to drive towards goals.

About the team

This team owns everything the customer sees and touches: from the frontend application that is the entire user interface of the product, to the backend business logic that runs the inspections behind it. The full stack of the user's experience, end to end. This team builds how an operator sets up an inspection, how a quality engineer reads the result, and how the interfaces work reliably in a 24/7 mission-critical manufacturing environment. Taipei is our product engineering hub and you will be working alongside embedded engineering teams and AI/ML teams.

What you will own

The roadmap for your layer. Work with product and engineering leadership to turn company priorities into a sequenced plan your team can execute, and push back when the sequence does not hold up.

Releases people can trust. Own the release process for your components: sprint cadence, branch and release structure, test gates in GitHub Actions, and the discipline that keeps a regression from reaching a customer's line.

Performance and robustness as standing work. Memory behavior, startup time, long-run stability and graceful degradation. You will define what good looks like here and build the practices that hold it.

The field loop. Talk to customers directly and turn what you learn into engineering priorities. You will triage them, protect your engineers' focus, and turn recurring field problems into product fixes.

Hiring and growing the team. Set the hiring standard, run the interview loop, and develop the engineers on your team.

Minimum qualifications
  • Have led software engineering teams — hiring, coaching, performance management — on top of a strong record shipping product-oriented software

  • Deep experience in one area of our stack, React, Python, Go, and fluent enough in the others to review work in both

  • Care about reliability in a way that shows up in process rather than in principle, and have chased down the failure that only appears after days of continuous runtime.

  • Have built release structure and sprint cadence rather than inherited someone else's.

  • Have real instincts about interfaces, and can tell in review when a screen will confuse an operator standing on a factory floor.

  • Want to work on physical AI, where the output of your software is a decision about a real part on a real line, right now.

  • Work in Mandarin and English at a professional level

Preferred qualifications
  • Experience working on applications and software that runs on edge hardware

  • Experience working with AI/ML pipelines
