The Data Products organization at Turquoise is transforming how healthcare prices are understood, helping to flatten healthcare price inflation across the US, and building the foundational layer for direct to consumer healthcare transactions in the future.
We are seeking a skilled and proven Engineering Manager to lead one of our Data Product Engineering teams. You will play a critical role in guiding the technical direction of our user-facing products, fostering collaboration between engineering, product, and design, and driving a culture of excellence. We are looking for a leader who is passionate about building high-quality products and empowering their team to deliver exceptional user experiences.
Responsibilities:Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and grow a team of product engineers, responsible for building data analysis products on top of Turquoise’s best-in-class health service pricing data.
Product Delivery: Own the technical execution and delivery of key product features, ensuring high quality, performance, and scalability.
Technical Direction: Provide technical guidance and oversight, specifically in modern frontend technologies (VueJS), ensuring best practices in coding, architecture, and design are followed.
Collaboration: Work closely with Product Managers, Designers, and other Engineers to translate requirements into technical solutions and ensure alignment with business goals. Foster a high-performance and inclusive culture.
Quality & Excellence: Champion a culture of high quality, conducting code reviews and ensuring the product meets rigorous standards for user experience and reliability.
5+ years experience in product engineering, or a related role, with 2+ years of experience managing a team of engineers.
Proven expertise shipping reliable products with high quality user experiences.
A track record of building inclusive teams, with process decisions informed by bottom-up insight from engineers.
Proven expertise managing and evolving incident response practices and managing an on-call schedule.
Experience working with cloud infrastructure (AWS) and platform services such as Heroku.
Proficiency with monitoring and observability tools (DataDog).
Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey technical issues to non-technical audiences.
Strong collaboration skills and ability to work across functional teams.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
Experience working in SaaS or data-intensive environments.
Familiarity with compliance (HIPAA) and security frameworks (e.g., SOC 2, ISO-27001).
Familiarity and experience with Python, Django, and VueJS.
Experience in a remote-first environment.
