Who We Are

Imprint is reimagining co-branded credit cards & financial products to be smarter, more rewarding, and truly brand-first. We partner with companies like Crate & Barrel, Rakuten, Booking.com, H-E-B, Fetch, and Brooks Brothers to launch modern credit programs that deepen loyalty, unlock savings, and drive growth. Our platform combines advanced payments infrastructure, intelligent underwriting, and seamless UX to help brands offer powerful financial products—without becoming a bank.

Co-branded cards account for over $300 billion in U.S. annual spend—but most are still powered by legacy banks. Imprint is the modern alternative: flexible, tech-forward, and built for today’s consumer. Backed by Kleiner Perkins, Thrive Capital, and Khosla Ventures, we’re building a world-class team to redefine how people pay—and how brands grow. If you want to work fast, solve hard problems, and make a real impact, we’d love to meet you.

The Team

Imprint’s Spend team builds our core product experiences that help cardholders earn rewards with their cards. The pod owns critical customer-facing flows and the platform capabilities behind them, including issuing and redeeming rewards, our partner APIs, webhook integrations, and the operational foundations that keep these systems correct, observable, and reliable at scale. This team’s work is a strong split across building new rewards and scaling the existing reward infrastructure we’ve already built.

The Role

We’re seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the Spend team through its next phase of growth and execution. You will set strategy, grow and mentor a high-performing team, and drive delivery across customer-facing features and the backend/platform systems that power them. You’ll partner with product and cross-functional leaders to raise our bar on availability, correctness, and speed of change, while ensuring we meet reliability, compliance, and operational requirements.

Location

Hybrid. This role is based in our New York or San Francisco office, with 2–3 in-office days per week as required by your manager. Preference for NY or SF office hubs for closer collaboration with engineering leadership.

What You’ll Do

  • Set and execute the technical and organizational strategy for the Spend Pod, balancing customer experience, reliability, scale, and long-term maintainability.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners (Product, Risk, Compliance, Finance, Data) to define goals, sequencing, and tradeoffs for customer-facing spend experiences and supporting platform capabilities.

  • Own delivery and operations of critical spend-related services and workflows, with strong SLOs, runbooks, and healthy on-call practices.

  • Evolve observability around customer outcomes and system failure modes across transaction experiences, eventing, webhooks, and public APIs.

  • Drive architectural improvements that simplify critical flows, reduce incident risk, and de-risk migrations as systems evolve.

  • Lead and develop a diverse, talented team of engineers across a range of seniority levels.

What We Look For

  • 10+ years of software engineering experience, including 4+ years managing backend and/or product-platform teams operating 24x7 services.

  • Experience building and operating customer-facing systems at scale, including event-driven architectures, public APIs, webhooks, and partner integrations.

  • Strong systems architecture skills across distributed systems, data integrity, idempotency, and failure-mode-driven design.

  • Proven track record improving reliability, observability, and on-call effectiveness for critical product flows.

  • Clear, direct communication and the ability to align stakeholders and lead through ambiguity.

  • Nice to have: experience in fintech or regulated environments, experience building transactional or ledger-adjacent systems, and experience leading large-scale refactors or platform migrations.

Technologies We Use

  • Go (Golang), TypeScript

  • MySQL, Redis

  • Kafka or similar event-streaming platforms, Temporal (workflow orchestration)

  • AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform

  • Modern observability stacks (metrics, logs, tracing)

Perks & Benefits
  • Competitive compensation and equity packages

  • Leading configured work computers of your choice

  • Flexible paid time off

  • Fully covered, high-quality healthcare, including fully covered dependent coverage

  • Additional health coverage includes access to One Medical and the option to enroll in an FSA

  • 20 weeks of paid parental leave for the primary caregiver and 8 weeks for all new parents

  • Access to industry-leading technology across all of our business units, stemming from our philosophy that we should invest in resources for our team that foster innovation, optimization, and productivity
