English to French Legal (Judiciary) Translator and/or Editor – Freelance 

**Requirement: U.S. citizenship
**Location: Remote / as needed


Global Language Strategies seeks a freelance / contract linguist (legal translator and/or editor to perform legal services for a United States Government client. Must possess at least three years of experience translating and/or editing legal content with knowledge of correct U.S. legal and technical terms in English to French. This is a freelance, as-needed position and is ongoing.
** Applicants must be U.S. citizens willing to undergo security clearance processing and fingerprinting **



Requirements


Qualifications include: 

  • Three years of experience providing professional legal language services.
  • Native French language skills are required.
  • Extensive legal language service experience is required.
  • Bachelor's degree in a foreign language, linguistics, or comparable field required.
  • Must be able to use CAT tools (if translator or editor); experience using Trados required.
  • Excellent organizational skills and understanding of language services.
  • Advanced proficiency in reading/writing/listening and speaking in English and the target foreign language(s).
  • Available during 9-5 EST most days to take on-demand assignments at least 15 hours per week if needed.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
