About Uber Engineering

Uber Engineering is a high-performance culture marked by perseverance and hyper-productivity. We’re looking for team players with natural customer service intuition who can work harder, faster, and smarter while taking technical excellence to a whole new level. You should be passionate about building a global transportation marketplace that spans a wide range of cities—varying from 100,000 to 10 million people in size—each with unique regulatory, technical, and business requirements.

About the Role

Uber Engineering operates in a fast-paced environment driven by scale, reliability, and speed. We’re looking for an Enterprise Application Developer who thrives at the intersection of IT, SaaS administration, automation, and customer impact.

This role owns the operational health, configuration, and lifecycle of Uber’s core enterprise applications while acting as the highest escalation point for complex application issues. You will partner closely with Engineering, Security, IT Operations, and Business stakeholders to ensure Uber’s critical collaboration and productivity platforms run securely, efficiently, and at a global scale.

This is not a traditional service desk role; it is a hands-on application ownership position with real influence over tooling, processes, and the user experience across all of Uber.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Application Ownership: Act as the primary technical owner for enterprise SaaS applications, including (but not limited to): Google Workspace, Zoom, Slack, Figma, Asana, Jira, Confluence, ServiceNow, and Okta/Identity-integrated applications.

  • Lifecycle & Configuration: Manage application configuration, access models, permissions, integrations, and automation. Own the full application lifecycle, including onboarding, offboarding, renewals, vendor coordination, and feature rollouts.

  • Escalation & Incident Management: Serve as a Super Admin with the highest level of system access. Resolve complex, escalated Tier 3 application issues beyond standard troubleshooting and lead incident responses for enterprise application outages or degradations.

  • Automation & Integration: Design and implement automation and integration workflows using JavaScript, Python, APIs, and Enterprise AI applications (Gemini, ChatGPT, Claude, Claude Code, MCP) to reduce manual effort and improve reliability.

  • Data Analysis: Analyze ticket and usage data to identify trends, systemic issues, and opportunities for optimization. Leverage strong programming and database skills (BigQuery, Apache Hive) to drive these insights.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Act as the crucial bridge between IT Engineering, the Service Desk, Security, and Business stakeholders. Provide actionable feedback to IT Engineering leadership regarding application pain points and improvement opportunities.

  • Documentation & Compliance: Own and maintain internal and external-facing documentation, including runbooks, SOPs, and escalation guides. Ensure procurement and licensing processes adhere to logistics and compliance guidelines.

  • General Support: Perform additional duties as assigned to support seamless enterprise application operations.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of IT or Enterprise Application Development experience.

  • 3+ years of experience supporting SaaS platforms at scale with admin-level access.

  • Strong scripting or coding skills (Python, Bash, APIs).

  • Solid understanding of Enterprise AI applications, including Gemini, ChatGPT, Claude, Claude Code, and Model Context Protocol (MCP).

  • Familiarity with identity and access management concepts (Okta, AD, SSO, SCIM).

  • Proven experience acting as an escalation point for complex technical issues.

  • Strong documentation, training, and communication skills.

  • Ability to respond quickly to incidents and operate effectively in high-pressure situations.

  • Willingness to participate in on-call rotations and work outside standard business hours when needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of experience in Enterprise Application Development or Software Engineering.

  • Demonstrated expertise in building and deploying automation using Python, JavaScript, and APIs.

  • Experience with data warehousing and querying large datasets (BigQuery, Hive).

  • Hands-on experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and CI/CD tools.

  • Deep knowledge of Linux environments and cloud platforms (e.g., GCP, AWS).

  • 3-4+ years of experience driving process efficiency and providing Tier 3 support.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and project management skills.

  • A self-starter mentality with the ability to take initiative and work both independently and collaboratively.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
