As Event Manager at Meter, you'll create and execute various events to promote the brand, overseeing all details from planning to execution, and involving cross-department collaboration.
The summary above was generated by AI

At Meter, we believe events can be more than just touchpoints, you are bringing Meter’s brand into real life. As Event manager, you’ll be responsible for creating and executing small and large-scale events that differentiate Meter and leave a lasting impression on customers, partners, and employees.

If you’re excited to experiment with event formats, work hand-in-hand with every department in the organization, act with an incredible sense of urgency, while upholding our brand standard, you’ll thrive here. Internal and external facing events both have the same level of attention to detail and investment here at Meter. We are looking for someone to take full ownership of our internal events program and stand up our in-person lab workshop series.

What success looks like

Within your first six months, you will:

  • Run GTM Kick off as the event's owner. You’ll work with sales and marketing leadership, enablement on content and programming, and design for branding. You will be responsible for all of the details of the program.

  • Ship the internal events playbook: preferred venue doc, vendor list, run-of-show templates, bottoms-up budget framework, post-event survey. This way teams can self-serve team onsites in a consistent manner across teams.

  • Stand up our sponsored and hosted event strategy to win over the IT community. You will develop a high-quality, consistent experience everywhere they meet us.

  • Support sponsored events in both the channel and direct side to help build general brand awareness for Meter.

What your day-to-day will look like

You'll be the first dedicated owner of internal events & partner enablement events at Meter, working closely with the GTM, leadership, and people team.

  • Walk the leadership team through the run-of-show for the company onsite in the morning, then take a venue site visit in the afternoon.

  • Take a fuzzy request like "we should do something around NANOG" and come back by EOD with three options, costs, and a recommendation.

  • Gather feedback from sales, partners, and attendees, and use those insights to continuously refine messaging.

  • Project manage all of the moving pieces of event content (main stage sessions, activations, demos, and experiential moment) coordinating across product marketing, communications, and technical enablement to make sure every element is on track, on message, and on time for programs like GKO, President’s Club, etc.

Who you are

You've scaled event programs before, but love the thrill and ownership of building from scratch.

You’re someone who:

  • You're equally strong on internal events and external facing events. GKO and a 10 x 20 booth presence at an industry conference sit naturally on the same desk in your head.

  • You bring clarity when the brief doesn't have it. "Make the onsite program great" lands on your desk and you come back with goals, audience, format, budget, and a recommendation. You don't wait for someone else to define scope or hand you a number.

  • You build budgets bottoms-up. You can break a $1.5M onsite into line items, defend each one, and find $200k of waste in someone else's plan in 20 minutes.

  • You're a project manager at heart. Twelve workstreams in flight, every owner knows what's due Tuesday, the budget is current, and you're three weeks ahead on the next one.

  • You travel happily. SF onsites, partner events around the country, venue scouting. The road doesn't drain you.

Why Meter?

The internet runs the world. Every purchase you make, video call you join, it's all packets flowing through networks. But those networks haven’t changed for decades. They’re brittle, complex, and surprisingly hard to set up in an enterprise space.

We started Meter to build better networks. We had to build everything from the ground-up: designing and building our own enterprise hardware, intuitive software, and streamlined operations to deliver great outcomes for our customers. Today, we build and deploy these networks at scale. Ambitious companies and enduring institutions like Bridgewater, Lyft, Reddit, rely on Meter to keep their thousands of employees and locations online and productive.

Our bet with Meter is simple: we will all use the internet more than we do today. We believe we have the definitive networking stack in place to enable business to do so as seamlessly and reliably as any modern utility.

Compensation

  • The estimated base salary for this role is between $146,000 - $172,000.

  • Additionally, this role is eligible to participate in Meter's equity plan.
