The Role

We are seeking a Senior Manager, Cloud Engineering to join the EverHealth Platform Engineering team, reporting to the Head of Platform Engineering.

In this role, you will lead and develop the Cloud Engineering function responsible for AWS infrastructure, cloud architecture standards, infrastructure-as-code strategy, cloud security implementation, cloud cost optimization, account and environment standards, cloud automation, reusable infrastructure patterns, and cloud operational risk reduction across EverHealth.

You will manage a team of Cloud Engineers in a hands-on management role. You will lead the team, prioritize the backlog, coach engineers, manage performance, establish operating cadence, and stay directly involved in cloud architecture decisions, infrastructure delivery, platform modernization, technical escalations, and operational improvements.

You will partner closely with SRE, Product Engineering, Delivery Engineering, Enablement Engineering, Security, Compliance, and business and product stakeholders. Cloud Engineering owns AWS platform and infrastructure standards, and serves as an escalation point for cloud infrastructure issues when SRE cannot resolve the issue and the root cause is within cloud infrastructure.

Role Responsibilities

  • Lead the EverHealth Cloud Engineering team responsible for AWS infrastructure, cloud platform standards, cloud cost management, and infrastructure-as-code maturity
  • Prioritize Cloud Engineering work during sprint planning in partnership with the Scrum Master
  • Manage, coach, develop, and performance-manage Cloud Engineering team members
  • Ensure technical alignment with the Principal Cloud Platform Engineer
  • Own AWS account structure, landing zones, networking, IAM standards, and environment provisioning practices
  • Own Terraform strategy, reusable infrastructure patterns, IaC standards, and review practices
  • Build and mature cloud architecture standards across the EverHealth product portfolio
  • Support AWS services and environments including VPC, IAM, EC2, ECS/EKS, RDS, S3, CloudWatch, load balancers, networking, backup/DR, Windows/Linux workloads, and related services
  • Lead and contribute hands-on to cloud infrastructure design and implementation using Terraform, Ansible, Spacelift, GitHub, and related tooling
  • Drive cloud cost optimization analysis and recommendations in partnership with Product Engineering
  • Identify opportunities to improve utilization, reduce waste, and align cloud/infrastructure spend with business needs
  • Reduce cloud operational risk through better standards, automation, documentation, reusable patterns, and repeatable practices
  • Implement cloud security standards defined by Security, while helping guide cloud security architecture where infrastructure design decisions create risk or require platform-level judgment
  • Lead cloud modernization efforts across EverHealth products, including legacy infrastructure reduction, data center migration, AWS environment modernization, and product-specific cloud improvements
  • Help mature container and Kubernetes platform practices in partnership with Product Engineering
  • Ensure Cloud Engineering serves as a senior escalation point for cloud infrastructure issues when SRE cannot resolve the issue and the root cause is within AWS or related infrastructure services
  • Use CloudWatch, Grafana, New Relic, Sentry, OpsGenie/Jira Service Management Operations, and related observability or operational tools to support cloud infrastructure troubleshooting and production visibility
  • Partner with Product Engineering on architecture reviews, environment buildouts, implementation support, modernization planning, and cloud infrastructure escalations
  • Partner with SRE on AWS infrastructure reliability, production readiness, operational resilience, disaster recovery, and business continuity practices
  • Partner with Delivery Engineering and Enablement Engineering on cloud deployment processes, CI/CD infrastructure, shared services, release support, and environment standards
  • Partner with the Program Manager, Technical Project Manager, and Scrum Master to collect and share cloud health, cloud cost, operational risk, modernization progress, and project health for Cloud Engineering-supported work
  • Partner with Security and Compliance on IAM, encryption, network controls, logging, auditability, HIPAA infrastructure controls, and secure cloud operations
  • Establish and mature Cloud Engineering operating cadence, including architecture reviews, backlog reviews, cost reviews, security reviews, operational risk reviews, and standards reviews
  • Challenge product teams and partner functions when cloud architecture, cost, security, or operational decisions create unacceptable risk
  • Help create a high-performing Cloud Engineering culture rooted in ownership, platform leverage, practical standards, automation, and continuous improvement

About You

  • Cloud engineering leadership mindset with deep experience in AWS infrastructure, infrastructure-as-code, cloud security, cost optimization, and platform modernization
  • Strong hands-on cloud infrastructure judgment and ability to stay close to technical work while managing people
  • Ability to drive development of cloud standards, reusable patterns, and operating discipline without creating unnecessary bureaucracy
  • Strong ownership mindset and ability to drive cloud platform improvements across teams with clear priorities and practical execution
  • Ability to balance scalability, security, reliability, cost, engineering speed, and long-term maintainability
  • Strong coaching skills and ability to raise the technical maturity of cloud engineers and partner teams
  • Comfortable challenging architecture, cost, or security decisions when they create risk for the business or platform
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain cloud architecture decisions, infrastructure risks, cost tradeoffs, and modernization priorities to technical and non-technical stakeholders

Target Experience

  • 3+ years of experience managing cloud engineers, platform engineers, infrastructure engineers, DevOps teams, or similar technical teams
  • 8+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure, platform engineering, DevOps, infrastructure engineering, or a similar role
  • 8+ years of hands-on experience building and supporting AWS infrastructure and services, including VPC, IAM, EC2, ECS/EKS, RDS, S3, CloudWatch, load balancers, networking, Windows/Linux workloads, backup/DR, and related production infrastructure
  • 5+ years of experience with AWS account structure, landing zones, networking, IAM standards, environment provisioning, and cloud platform governance
  • 5+ years of experience with Terraform and infrastructure-as-code practices
  • 5+ years of experience using tools such as Ansible, Spacelift, GitHub, CloudWatch, Jira, Confluence, and related cloud engineering tooling
  • 3+ years of experience designing reusable infrastructure modules, IaC standards, review practices, and scalable cloud platform patterns
  • 3+ years of experience with cloud cost optimization, usage analysis, infrastructure right-sizing, waste reduction, and cost governance practices
  • Experience leading or supporting cloud modernization, legacy infrastructure reduction, data center migration, or AWS environment modernization initiatives strongly preferred
  • Experience using observability and operational tools such as Grafana, New Relic, Sentry, OpsGenie / Jira Service Management Operations, or similar tools to support cloud infrastructure troubleshooting strongly preferred
  • Experience implementing cloud security controls across identity, networking, access control, encryption, logging, auditability, and infrastructure configuration strongly preferred
  • Experience supporting SaaS, healthcare technology, or other business-critical cloud platforms strongly preferred
  • Experience working in HIPAA-compliant environments and supporting secure handling of healthcare data strongly preferred
  • AWS certifications strongly preferred

Nice to Have Experience

  • Experience assisting with executive-ready or stakeholder-facing reporting on cloud cost, cloud health, infrastructure risk, and modernization progress
  • Experience helping modernize or mature a Cloud Engineering function in a growing or transforming engineering organization
  • Experience with FinOps tooling, cloud cost management platforms, or formal cost governance practices
  • Terraform, ITIL, DevOps, or related infrastructure/platform certifications
  • Experience with HITRUST, SOC 2, or other regulated technology environments
  • Experience improving Kubernetes, ECS/EKS, or container platform maturity in partnership with product engineering teams
  • Experience using AI-assisted engineering tools such as ChatGPT/Codex or Claude Code or similar
