This role will lead Social Creative for Sony Pictures Television Studios, serving as the creative engine behind the studio’s social voice, identity, and fan-facing storytelling. Reporting to the SVP of Creative Marketing, the Executive Director, Social Creative will partner closely with Creative Marketing, Marketing Strategy, Franchise Management, and Production to define and evolve a distinctive, social-first brand presence across all SPTS IP.

The Executive Director will co-author the social brand vision and creative direction with the SVP, translating high-level brand strategy into breakthrough, platform-native creative that drives fandom, conversation, and cultural relevance. This individual will lead a nimble, high-performing team of writer/producers capable of concepting, capturing, editing, and delivering premium social content at speed—while mentoring talent and setting a high creative bar across all platforms. The ideal candidate is a highly creative, driven leader with deep instincts for social storytelling, emerging formats, and pop culture, and who thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial studio environment.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the SVP of Creative Marketing to define and evolve the social brand voice, tone, and creative direction for Sony Pictures Television Studios and its portfolio of IP.
  • Lead the social creative strategy across platforms, translating studio and series brand positioning into culturally relevant, platform-native storytelling.
  • Build, lead, and mentor a nimble team of social writer/producers responsible for ideation, content capture, editing, and delivery across multiple active series.
  • Oversee social ideation and execution for 20+ active shows spanning live action, animation, and kids content, with a focus on adult-targeted series for major streaming platforms.
  • Drive innovation in creative formats, storytelling approaches, and content pipelines to fuel growth, engagement, and fandom across TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, and emerging platforms.
  • Establish creative best practices for social content, including short-form video, memes, reactive content, creator collaborations, and original series-driven concepts.
  • Work closely with talent, show creatives, publicists, and production teams to capture compelling, authentic content while fostering trust and creative collaboration.
  • Provide hands-on creative leadership on set and during key moments, ensuring social content opportunities are identified and executed in real time.
  • Collaborate with Marketing Operations and Production partners to align on workflows, timelines, and delivery while maintaining creative agility.
  • Support major campaigns, launches, and event activations (e.g., San Diego Comic-Con) with social-first creative leadership and execution.
  • Use performance insights, cultural trends, and audience behavior to inform creative decisions and continuously evolve the social strategy.
  • Foster a creative culture that encourages experimentation, speed, and excellence while providing clear direction, feedback, and growth opportunities for the team.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of experience in social creative leadership within entertainment, streaming, agency, or digital-first media environments.
  • Proven success defining and scaling a distinctive brand voice across social platforms for premium IP or consumer-facing brands.
  • Demonstrated experience leading social creative for major streaming or television campaigns, with hands-on involvement in concepting and execution.
  • Deep understanding of social platforms, algorithms, formats, and audience behaviors, with a strong point of view on where culture is heading.
  • Strong background in short-form video storytelling, including concept development, on-set capture, post-production, and final delivery.
  • Experience working directly with talent, producers, and show creatives, with the ability to navigate creative sensitivities and build trust.
  • Track record of building and mentoring high-performing creative teams in fast-paced, high-volume environments.
  • Ability to balance creative ambition with practical execution, timelines, and resource constraints.
  • Comfortable operating in an entrepreneurial studio environment that values speed, experimentation, and iterative learning.
  • Strong creative instincts paired with the ability to use data, insights, and performance metrics to refine strategy and drive growth.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Advertising, Film, Communications, Media Studies, or equivalent professional experience.
