The Boeing Global Services (BGS) and the Manufacturing Engineering Support team is seeking an Experienced Level Manufacturing Project Engineer to support our team in Huntington Beach, CA.
This position is for Manufacturing Engineering support of Out of Production aircraft reporting to Boeing Global Services Space Engineering. The development operates and maintains manufacturing functions in support of several production and post-production programs and development programs. The Manufacturing Engineer will work on development and resolve engineering support issues to production related problems that require in-depth knowledge and experience.
Principal Responsibilities:
  • Create and develop manufacturing drawings, manufacturing and/or fabrication data.
  • Develop manufacturing plans and processes for installation, machining, welding, brazing, heat treat, surface finish, fastener installation, forming, roll forming, and assembly activities.
  • Support manufacturing processes including developing special processes for our customers' technical requirements as required to spare parts manufacturing for out-of-production aircraft.
  • Support fabrication and repair methods including weld/build/repair methods, mechanical removal and replacement of components using bonds, adhesives, and fasteners.
  • Provide support in development and approval of special processes including welding, NDT and heat treat.
  • Support development and approval of procedures and specifications for new tooling and manufacturing equipment.
  • Create and maintain process documentation and work instructions as required.
  • Support manufacturing engineering in root cause analysis, corrective action, and development of preventive actions.
  • Support production and sustainment activities for long lead and limited manufacturing items.
  • Provide engineering support to manufacturing for disposition and repair of supplier provided hardware.
  • Apply knowledge of Boeing processes, applicable specifications, customer repair manuals, maintenance manuals, parts catalogs, and industry specifications.
  • Recommend and implement improvements to manufacturing processes to improve product quality, cost, and schedule.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable FAA/EASA and Boeing quality and regulatory requirements.

Required Skills and Experience:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
  • 3+ years related experience with Manufacturing, Engineering, and the Aerospace Domain

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with mechanical engineering assemblies and subsystems
  • Experience with general sheet metal fabrication
  • Experience applying critical thinking skills such as root cause analysis and incident investigation
  • Experience reading and understanding engineering drawings, blueprints, schematics, and specifications
  • Experience with special processes (heat treatment of metals, welding, brazing, chemical processes/finishes and coatings, composite hardware manufacturing processes, metal bonding processes, non-destructive testing) and/or special process auditing

Experienced-Level Summary Pay Range: $111,350 to $150,650
