Finance Manager

We are looking for a Finance Manager to lead the finance function for our US business. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who combines strong technical capability with sound judgement, commercial insight, and a practical approach to problem solving. You will be the local finance lead for the US business, partnering closely with local leadership and the New Zealand based finance team to bring clarity to performance, discipline to process, and confidence to decision making.

What this role looks like
As Finance Manager, you will sit close to the business, not on the sidelines. You will work with the Managing Principal and senior leaders to support performance across the US business.
Your work will span financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting, payroll, cash flow, tax coordination, audit support, corporate compliance, and process improvement. Just as importantly, you will help leaders understand what the numbers are telling them and where action is needed.
What you will do

• Lead the finance function for the US business
• Review financial reporting and communicate results clearly to leadership.
• Partner with business leaders on performance KPI’s, debtors, operating costs, risks, and opportunities.
• Drive continuous improvement in systems, reporting, and automation across the finance function.
• Support the NZ based finance team to close month-end, quarter-end, and year, working closely with the New Zealand based Financial Controller and CFO.
• Support the Commercial Manager with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
• Prepare fortnightly payroll and coordinate with the outsourced payroll provider.
• Liaise with tax advisors to support timely partnership income tax filings, K-1s, payroll tax, property tax, and related obligations.
• Manage corporate compliance requirements, including business registrations, annual reports, state filings, and business license renewals.
• Support annual audit requirements and presentation to the audit committee.
• Manage banking relationships, treasury activities, and expenditure control.
• Coordinate R&D filing activity to maximize eligible claims.
•  Improve systems, reporting, and automation across the finance function.
• Use Deltek Vantagepoint for reporting, project analysis, and financial management.

• CPA licensure preferred
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
• 8-10 years of finance and accounting experience.
• Experience in a finance manager, controller, or similar role desirable.
• Strong capability in financial reporting, management accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls.
• Experience with payroll, cash flow management, tax coordination, and corporate compliance.
• Deltek Vantagepoint experience preferable but not essential.
• Advanced Excel skills
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate financial information for non-financial stakeholders.
• Experience in AEC or professional services is helpful, but not essential.

Compensation: Estimated starting at $140,000 - $170,000 + biannual profit share bonus potential. 
Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be dependent on factors, including but not limited to, the individual’s qualifications, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities as well as physical work location within the state.
