  • Backed by a16z, BCV, General Catalyst, Y Combinator

  • 100+ employees

  • Offices in San Francisco and NYC (London coming soon!)

The Role

We're hiring Pylon's first Controller. This is a high-impact, foundational role. You'll own all aspects of accounting, oversee relationships with third-parties, and support the business as we scale from Series B and beyond. The role reports to the VP of Finance.

What You'll Do

  • Financial Reporting: Own month-end close processes, consolidations, and financial statement preparation in accordance with GAAP

  • Accounting Operations: Oversee processes including AR (Order-to-Cash) and AP (Procure-to-Pay), partnering closely with sales, rev ops, legal, and operations teams

  • Systems & Infrastructure: Implement and own the systems that will enable the business to scale (from ERP to reporting infrastructure)

  • Controls & Audit Readiness: Design and implement robust internal controls and establish audit-ready processes

  • Automation: Leverage AI agents and automation to reduce manual workflows such as transaction categorization and reconciliations

  • External Relationships: Manage relationships with auditors, tax advisors, and banking partners

Requirements

  • Professional experience in a Controller or Senior Accounting Manager role at a high-growth venture-backed start-up

  • Experience owning a full-cycle close process and audit process

  • Experience building or improving systems and processes from the ground up, not just inheriting a mature function

  • Deep technical accounting knowledge including ASC 606 and multi-entity consolidations

  • CPA required

Nice to Haves

  • Prior public accounting background

  • First-audit experience

  • ERP implementation or migration experience

This Role Might NOT Be For You If

  • You want a team from day one; you’ll build the team as we scale

  • You prefer steady-state maintenance over building and improving processes

  • You don’t love being in the details
