About NomadicML

Americans drive over 5 trillion miles a year, more than 500 billion of them recorded. Buried in that footage is the next frontier of machine intelligence. At NomadicML, we're building the platform that unlocks it.

Our Vision-Language Models (VLMs) act as the new "hydraulic mining" for video, transforming raw footage into structured intelligence that powers real-world autonomy and robotics. We partner with industry leaders across self-driving, robotics, and industrial automation, including Zoox, Qualcomm, Boston Dynamics, and Mitsubishi Electric, to mine insights from petabytes of data that were once unusable.

We've grown from zero to $508K ARR in five months at 90% gross margins, with $3M in contracted expansions. We're backed by Pear VC, BAG VC, and Scott Wu (CEO of Cognition), with angels from Google DeepMind, Microsoft, and OpenAI.

NomadicML was founded by Mustafa Bal and Varun Krishnan, who met at Harvard University while studying Computer Science. Our team has built mission-critical AI systems at Snowflake, Lyft, Microsoft, Amazon, and IBM Research, holds top-tier publications at conferences like CVPR, and moves with the speed and clarity of a startup obsessed with impact.

About the Role

We're looking for a Product Designer with strong visual taste to own the full spectrum of design at NomadicML, from our product platform to our website, brand, and marketing presence.

You'll be instrumental in shaping how the world's leading autonomous vehicle and robotics companies experience our spatial intelligence platform. This means translating complex technical capabilities into intuitive interfaces, crafting a visual identity that reflects the precision and sophistication of our technology, and ensuring our product messaging resonates from the very first touchpoint.

Designers at NomadicML have broad creative license and the freedom to create and lead new initiatives based on your best product judgment. We expect a versatile skillset and the ability to create high-quality designs, interactions, and prototypes across a variety of contexts. If you're energized by rapidly iterating on everything from dense product workflows to polished landing pages, this role is for you.

What You'll Do

Product Design: Own the end-to-end user experience of NomadicML's platform: designing flows for video upload, edge case discovery, search, review tools, and data export. Translate complex spatial intelligence concepts into clear, intuitive interfaces that enterprise engineers love to use.

Brand & Visual Identity: Lead and evolve NomadicML's brand identity. Establish and maintain brand guidelines that ensure consistency across product, web, marketing, and sales materials.

Website & Marketing: Design landing pages, product demos, and marketing assets that communicate our capabilities to technical buyers. Work closely with marketing to bring campaigns to life across channels.

Prototyping & Iteration: Rapidly explore visual designs in Figma and translate them into web-native experiences. Create interactive prototypes to test ideas and communicate vision to engineering.

Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner with engineers to ship pixel-perfect implementations, making pragmatic trade-offs when necessary. Work with marketing to ensure brand coherence across all touchpoints.

Design Systems: Think systematically to build and maintain a design system that scales with our product and ensures a cohesive experience as we grow.

Example Projects
  • Design the flow, layout, and feature hierarchy for our video analysis dashboard where engineers review thousands of AI-surfaced edge cases.

  • Create landing pages that communicate how NomadicML turns raw driving footage into training-ready spatial intelligence.

  • Develop visual frameworks for presenting complex multi-sensor data and temporal reasoning in an accessible way.

  • Redesign our onboarding experience to reduce time-to-value for new enterprise customers.

  • Lead a brand refresh that positions NomadicML as the definitive spatial intelligence layer for autonomy.

You Might Be a Fit If You Have
  • A strong portfolio showcasing work across product design, brand, and web, demonstrating exceptional visual taste and user-centered thinking.

  • Proficiency in Figma and modern design tools; comfort with prototyping interactive experiences.

  • Experience designing for complex technical products, ideally B2B or developer-facing platforms.

  • Strong background in graphic design and brand development, with the ability to establish and maintain visual identity systems.

  • Proven ability to translate complex information hierarchies into clear, intuitive interfaces.

  • A bias toward action. You ship work, gather feedback, and iterate quickly.

  • Excellent communication skills; you can articulate design rationale to engineers, marketers, and founders alike.

  • 3+ years of design experience, ideally with at least 1–2 years at a high-growth startup or in-house product team.

Nice to Have
  • Front-end development experience (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React) and the ability to collaborate closely with engineers or prototype in code.

  • Motion design skills to bring interactions and product moments to life.

  • Experience with A/B testing, growth-oriented design, or data-informed iteration.

  • Familiarity with AI, autonomous vehicles, robotics, or other deep-tech domains.

  • History of entrepreneurial projects or early-stage startup experience.

Why NomadicML

This is a rare opportunity to be the design voice at a company building critical infrastructure for the autonomous future. You'll work directly with founders and engineers to shape a product used by the world's most ambitious robotics and AV teams. You'll have real ownership, real impact, and the chance to define how spatial intelligence looks and feels.

We're a small, fast-moving team that values craft, speed, and intellectual honesty. If you want to do the best design work of your career at the intersection of AI and physical systems, we'd love to hear from you.
