About Sol

Sol is an agentic HR system built for how work is changing. We're replacing the traditional HRIS with an AI-native foundation. We are built for change, designed to scale, and reimagined with AI from the ground up, so HR leaders get a clear view of their workforce instead of a system everyone works around.

At Sol, we're guided by three things: people: we hire driven, humble people and build to amplify their potential and our customers'; imagination: we challenge assumptions about our industry and how software gets built, then move fast once we've decided; and durability: we sweat the details to build a company that is meant to last. Day to day, that shows up as a bias toward writing things down over meetings, async communication by default, and flexible hours that respect how differently everyone works. We try new things, kill what isn't working, and hold a high bar without the politics or ego that slow good decisions down.

Sol was founded by leaders who spent decades building the modern HR category, and is backed by Sutter Hill Ventures and NEA. Our first customers go live in early 2027 and we need you to make them wildly successful.

THE ROLE

We're hiring our first full-time recruiter. We have foundational processes and systems and you'll continue to build Talent Acquisition into a world class function: the process, the tools, the employer brand and the candidate experience.

We build software for people who run HR, so how we hire is a test of what we believe. We deeply care about candidate experience and this role will help our values show up at every stage, from the first outreach to the offer call.

This role is hybrid: onsite 3 days in San Mateo to start and then San Francisco (we move next summer).

WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Build the talent acquisition process. Execute the design of how Sol hires end to end: intake with hiring managers, scorecards, structured interview loops, debriefs, offers and handoff to onboarding.

  • Own our hiring systems. Set up Ashby to scale with us: pipelines, reporting and automation. Use AI and agents where they make the work better, the same way we ask our customers to.

  • Find and hire excellent talent, with a focus on cutting edge technical skills. Run full-cycle searches with a primary focus on engineering, product, and AI talent, while also supporting go-to-market and operations. Source world-class technical candidates directly, build networks of elite engineers who don't apply through job boards, and close top-tier talent in competitive markets.

  • Hire for mission and values. Give every interviewer a clear, consistent way to assess driven, humble people who challenge assumptions and sweat the details. Raise the bar on judgment as well as skills.

  • Make our values show up at every stage. Every touchpoint should reflect who we are: honest outreach, a respectful process, fast and clear feedback, and closing conversations that tell the truth about where Sol is.

  • Build the employer brand. Work with marketing and the founders to tell Sol's story to candidates, through job descriptions, LinkedIn, referrals, events and our founders' networks.

  • Coach hiring managers and interviewers. Support the team in running fair, high-signal interviews that lead to good hiring decisions.

  • Measure and improve. Track pipeline health, time to hire, offer acceptance and candidate experience. Use the data to keep improving how we hire.

  • Manage outside partners. Decide when to use external recruiters and agencies, and hold them to Sol's bar.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
  • 6+ years of full-cycle recruiting, including at least 2 years at an early-stage, venture-backed startup. Ideally you were an early or founding recruiter there.

  • A track record of building recruiting from scratch: process, tools, metrics and employer brand, not just running an existing playbook.

  • Deep technical sourcing expertise, with a proven track record of hiring exceptional senior software engineers, AI/ML researchers, and technical product leaders who weren't actively looking.

  • Good judgment about people. You can tell excellent from merely impressive, and you push back with hiring managers when it matters.

  • Experience setting up an ATS such as Ashby, Greenhouse or Lever, ability to evaluate technical skills and calibrate with engineering leadership, and comfort leveraging AI tools and automation in your sourcing workflow.

  • You care about candidate experience and know that how a company hires tells candidates who it is.

  • You're driven and humble, comfortable with ambiguity, and happy to do the work yourself while you build the system.

  • Bonus: experience in HR tech, enterprise SaaS or AI companies, or a background in People or HR operations.

WHY NOW

We're early. Our first enterprise customers go live in early 2027, and the people we hire over the next 18 months will decide what Sol becomes. You'll set the standard for every hire that follows and the experience every candidate has of Sol. That's a rare chance to build recruiting the right way from day one, at a company whose product is built around how people work.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
  • Base range: $200,0000-250,000.00 and significant early-stage equity

  • Medical, dental and vision coverage

  • Mental health support (Talkspace), fertility care (Kindbody) and primary care access (Teladoc, One Medical)

  • FSA and dependent care accounts

  • Life and disability insurance

  • 401(k)

  • Untracked PTO and company holidays

Location: San Francisco, CA (hybrid).
