About the company

Our client is an education technology company.

The role

Raydar is recruiting for this role on behalf of our client. Work across backend, mobile and customer-facing projects as an early technical hire. You will design reliable automation and integration systems, help shape overall architecture with technical leadership, and grow into leading major areas of the product.

What you'll do

- Build automation systems that connect with older third-party platforms and keep data in sync reliably.

- Develop and harden a cross-platform mobile app for iOS and Android.

- Design scalable systems, infrastructure and databases in close partnership with the CTO.

- Handle concurrency and asynchronous data flows across multiple data sources.

- Speak directly with customers and users, and deliver improvements based on their feedback.

- Lead whole product areas and help set their roadmap with the founders.

Requirements

What we're looking for

- A track record of taking software from idea to production and being accountable for entire systems, not just one component.

- Strong backend architecture and system design skills, including work with messy, multi-source data.

- A reliability mindset covering uptime, monitoring and graceful failure.

- Ability to pick up new technologies and frameworks quickly and apply them to unfamiliar problems.

- An adaptable, high-agency approach, taking responsibility for outcomes rather than tasks.

- Sharp, clear thinking and communication, including live reasoning and clear spoken English for daily customer calls.

- Comfort with very direct feedback and honesty about what systems can and cannot do.

- Genuine technical curiosity and interest in the education space.

- Willingness to work at a startup pace with seasonal deadlines and travel to customer sites.

- Roughly 1 to 5 years of experience; promising early-career engineers are welcome, and experienced seniors are considered at higher compensation.

Bonus points

- Experience with SRE or infrastructure work.

- Background in K-12 education technology or student information systems.

- Familiarity with iOS and Android system-level APIs.

- Experience with browser automation or agent-based automation.

- An eye for polished user experience.
