The Opportunity

Our client is on a mission to help accelerate housing development by modernizing one of the biggest bottlenecks in the building process: permitting.

Backed by strong investor support and experiencing rapid customer demand, the team is in an early, high-growth phase. This is an opportunity to join a small, senior group where engineers have significant ownership and can see their work quickly adopted by real users in the public sector.

This role is ideal for a builder who wants to move fast, shape product direction, and help establish the technical foundation of a scaling platform.

The Role

As a Full-Stack Engineer, you will play a key role in shaping the product, technical architecture, and engineering culture. You’ll work closely with customers, ship frequently, and help build the foundation the platform will scale on.

Tech Stack

The team intentionally uses proven, pragmatic technologies to enable fast delivery:

Front end: React with Radix Themes
Back end: Remix (Node.js) with Prisma ORM (Postgres)
Language: Full-stack TypeScript
Infrastructure: AWS with CDK

Approach to AI

The team combines strong engineering fundamentals with modern AI tooling to accelerate development and unlock smarter workflows.

  • Agentic patterns are integrated into the codebase for automation

  • Engineers are encouraged to explore new AI capabilities

  • Pair programming, code walkthroughs, and regular AI knowledge sharing are core practices

  • Access to advanced AI mentorship, meetups, and technical talks is provided

Why Join
  • Work alongside a highly experienced, senior team

  • Build meaningful software used by government stakeholders

  • Help modernize a traditionally underserved domain

  • Gain broad ownership and rapid growth opportunities

  • Collaborate with teammates who have built and scaled successful products

This environment is well suited for engineers who take their work seriously but value a collaborative, grounded culture.

Skills & Qualifications

The ideal candidate is a strong product-focused builder who:

  • Has 2+ years of professional full-stack product development experience

  • Is fluent and comfortable with React

  • Is mission- and user-oriented rather than tied to specific technologies

  • Is product-minded, curious, and empathetic toward user experience

  • Moves quickly and finds creative ways to ship early

  • Has experimented with AI in their development workflow

  • Communicates clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders

  • Is based on the West Coast, with strong preference for the SF Bay Area

Note: Visa sponsorship is not available at this time.

The hiring team encourages applications from candidates who may not meet every listed requirement but bring strong potential and relevant strengths.

Interview Process

The process is designed to move quickly (typically 1–2 weeks):

  1. Initial call (15–30 min) — Introductory conversation

  2. Project walkthrough (45–60 min) — Deep dive into a meaningful past project

  3. Take-home exercise (~2 hours) — Practical build aligned to real scenarios

  4. Founder conversation (30 min)

  5. Paid contract engagement (3 days) — Collaborative working session with the team

  6. Full-time offer
