Company Overview

Sidecar Legal is building an AI Associate for litigators at small law firms (“claude code” for lawyers). Our mission is to help lawyers grow their businesses by unlocking the 10x attorney within, making our litigators 10x better in both quality + quantity. We’re backed by SPC and Pear Capital.

We’re hiring a full stack engineer in SF to join our founding team, building products + features as we roll out our product to our first design partners. We are flexible on leveling, so feel free to reach out even if you are more senior.

Who you are
  • You’re a fast learner & want to grow. You recognize and are excited that technology is changing rapidly, and like adapting to the “latest and greatest”. You’re excited to grow your own skillset, and like getting feedback and learning from world class engineers. You perhaps even want to found your own company someday.

  • You’re high agency, and are excited about being on a small, high performing team. You’re comfortable asking questions when you’re blocked, and don’t need prescriptive instructions on what to do. You’re comfortable doing your own research and making independent decisions where you can.

  • You like moving fast. You are comfortable with making pragmatic decisions with imperfect information, and learning from contact with reality. You’re comfortable with rapidly evolving codebase where the roadmap may evolve rapidly on even a week to week basis.

  • You’re comfortable wearing many hats, including working on frontend, backend, infrastructure, and testing. You’re comfortable making small design + product decisions where needed, or even listening in on customer calls and giving opinions on low hanging ways to make their experience better.

  • Some familiarity with our stack: React, Node, Evals, CI/CD, Tailwind, Sentry, Langfuse, Posthog. Ideally you have experience with at least some of these, and you’ll learn the rest on the job.

  • Background or interest in building for lawyers. You have had some experience or contact with the legal profession in the US, or you are curious about learning about it.

Who we are

About us:

  • We’re a small, fast-moving team with a passion for shipping fast and problem-solving.

  • We are all writing code, talking to users, and making product decisions. We do whatever is needed to build a great product.

  • We care more about initiative, judgment, and integrity than about rules.

  • We value velocity, craft, and ownership.

  • We are a funded company backed by SPC and Pear Capital.

The founders:

  • Shruti: ex-Google, ex-Stripe, and scaled her last company (as CEO) to $20M in revenue. She most recently led product for a 150 person legaltech team at Google.

  • Jon: former lawyer turned Google SWE who has worked on a number of 0 ->1 products
