Global Content Communications Senior SpecialistSan Mateo, CA (Collab) Role Overview

Within Global Content Communications, this role will help shape how PlayStation collaborates with game publishers and developers, and will take a prominent role in planning, creating, and managing content focused on third-party titles published on PlayStation. Our goal is to elevate our third-party partners and create the most engaging content for gamers around the world.

This role will identify and develop content opportunities around exciting upcoming games of all shapes and sizes working with Sony Interactive Entertainment's Global Developer and Publisher Relations team as well as external studios and publishers. Content types will include news articles on PlayStation.Blog, as well as gameplay videos and other socially optimized content for PlayStation social channels including Instagram, TikTok, and more. The ideal candidate will combine deep knowledge of the games industry with strong content-creation instincts, social media expertise, and an ability to build trusted relationships with internal teams and external partners.

The role will sit within Global Content Communications and partner closely with teams across Sony Interactive, including Global Communications, Global Third-Party Marketing, Third-Party Portfolio, and Games Account Management, as well as external game publishers and developers.

Job Responsibilities
  • Maintain deep knowledge of upcoming games, publisher plans, industry trends, and player interests to proactively identify promising content opportunities.
  • Proactively develop and pitch creative ideas for PlayStation Blog, social media, video, and other Sony Interactive-owned channels that give players new reasons to engage with upcoming games.
  • Shape content plans around major third-party game campaigns, identifying the moments, stories, and content most likely to resonate with PlayStation audiences globally.
  • Pitch and develop content opportunities including game reveals, new gameplay, developer interviews, hands-on coverage, original social content, and other creative storytelling.
  • Develop simple, scalable processes that help the team organize upcoming third-party campaigns and content opportunities.
  • Partner closely with Sony Interactive Third-Party Marketing, Games Account Management, and other internal teams to develop content opportunities for third-party games.
  • Work across Sony Interactive teams to connect third-party content opportunities with broader PlayStation priorities, including PlayStation Plus and PlayStation Store.
  • Develop content plans with Sony Interactive’s international social media teams in mind, identifying opportunities that can extend across markets and collaborating with regional teammates to support global campaigns.
  • Help publishers understand the value of partnering with PlayStation by sharing content performance, audience insights, and learnings from previous campaigns.

What We're Looking For
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in social media management and content creation, editorial content creation, corporate communications, content strategy, games marketing, or a related field.
  • Experience working in the video game industry is strongly preferred, given the need for this role to have deep and broad knowledge of the landscape. Candidates with a background in social media, editorial and content creation, communications, publisher relations, marketing, or third-party games will have the most relevant experience for this role. Candidates with relevant experience in entertainment, media, or other consumer-facing industries -- and a deep knowledge of games -- will also be considered.
  • Strong understanding of major social platforms and the types of content, formats, and storytelling approaches that resonate with their audiences.
  • Deep knowledge of the video game industry, including major publishers, developers, independent games, franchises, industry trends, and how games are communicated and marketed to players.
  • Strong editorial and creative instincts, with the ability to quickly identify what makes a game, announcement, asset, or developer story interesting to an audience.
  • Highly proactive and comfortable identifying and pursuing opportunities rather than waiting for assignments or incoming requests.
  • Experience working directly with external partners, with the confidence to pitch ideas, respond to opportunities, provide constructive feedback, and build trusted working relationships.
  • Experience developing content for global audiences and an understanding of how campaigns and creative ideas can be adapted or extended across international markets.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple games, campaigns, deadlines, and stakeholders simultaneously.
  • Comfortable working creatively within constraints, including developing compelling content opportunities when assets, timing, or resources may be limited.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate ideas and build alignment across internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborative, curious, and comfortable working in a fast-moving environment where priorities and opportunities can change quickly.
  • Ability to use content performance and audience insights to inform future recommendations and demonstrate the value of content partnerships.
  • Requires familiarity with collaboration tools (Slack, Microsoft 365, and Google Workspace), while working knowledge of common content creation tools is a major plus (Adobe Creative Suite such as Premiere Pro and Photoshop).
  • Education: BS preferred -- ideally in related fields such as PR/Communication, Marketing, or Film -- but not necessarily required with a strong portfolio or relevant job experience.

The ideal candidate will possess one or more of the following additional specialized skills
  • Proficiency using Adobe Premiere Pro to edit video, including vertical video formats like TikTok and Instagram Reels.
  • Expertise with creating native TikTok content, including deep knowledge of trends, content creation, and related production experience.
  • Professional-grade photography skills, including product, event, and creative photography.
  • Experience using AI to automate and improve content-gathering processes.
  • Experience with community management strategy and community relations programs.
