Overview:

As a Grant Financial Specialist II you will perform moderately complex financial management and compliance activities for donor-funded awards throughout the full grant lifecycle - from proposal development to grant closeout and audit data. At this level, you demonstrate solid working knowledge of grant financial management principles and contribute to improving financial processes and donor compliance.preparation. This role supports project teams in developing budgets, monitoring expenditures, preparing donor-compliant financial reports, and strengthening financial controls. You will conduct financial analyses to identify variances and potential risks, provides guidance to project staff on routine donor regulations, and collaborates with partners to ensure accuracy and timeliness of financial

What will you do?

  • Maintain a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ, maintains a courteous, Christ-like attitude in dealing with people within and outside of Compassion, and faithfully upholds Compassion’s ministry in prayer.

  • Act as an advocate to raise the awareness of the needs of children. Understands Christ’s mandate to protect children. Commits to and prioritizes child protection considerations in all decision-making, tasks and activities across the ministry. Abides by all behavioral expectations in Compassion’s Statement of Commitment to Child Protection and Code of Conduct. Reports any concerns of abuse, neglect or exploitation of children through Compassion’s internal reporting process and appropriately supports responses to incidents if they occur.

  • Participate in core financial activities across assigned grants, preparing donor‑compliant financial reports, conducting budget variance analysis, and supporting financial aspects of project implementation.

  • Contribute to financial reporting to institutional and multilateral donors, as well as stakeholders. Utilize financial reporting systems to track grant expenditures and ensure compliance with donor-specific requirements, as well as preparing regular reports for donor-funded projects.

  • Monitor financials to address any financial discrepancies or compliance issues and coordinates with partner teams and field accounting staff to ensure that procured goods are tracked, documented, utilized, and dispositioned at the end of grants according to donor requirements and organizational policies.

  • May assist with vendor screening while coordinating with external auditors during donor audits and assist in the preparation of audit schedules and documentation. Serves as a point of contact for financial aspects of procurement audits, including third-party audits such as Single Audit.

  • Contribute to budgets for government and multilateral donor-funded projects, ensuring accurate and realistic financial planning. Collaborates with global program and national offices to assist with forecasting and monitoring of financial performance against projections.

  • Work closely with the finance, global program, legal specialists to ensure effective financial management of government and institutional funded projects.

  • Collaborate with the compliance team to enhance procurement-related financial management.

  • Support the implementation of various tools and resources to enhance the capacity of the finance team, ensuring compliance and efficiency in managing donor-funded projects.

  • May coach less experienced financial specialists concerning technical finance issues.

What do you bring?

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

  • 2–3 years of experience in grant finance, accounting, or donor-funded project management.

  • U.S. government grant experience required; international grant management experience preferred.

  • Knowledge of donor compliance requirements, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and audit support.

  • Excellent English communication skills; Spanish or French language skills are a plus.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional and international teams.

  • Commitment to Compassion's Christian mission and child protection values.
