What We're Looking For

We are seeking a versatile Graphic Designer II to join HNTB’s West Florida Public Engagement and Communications Team in a fast-paced, production-focused environment. This role will support transportation and infrastructure initiatives and is ideal for a creative professional who combines strong visual design skills with exceptional attention to detail, adaptability, and a commitment to quality control.
This position supports a wide range of communications and public engagement efforts, including executive presentations, technical infographics, newsletters, public outreach materials, proposal graphics, social media content, and branded communications assets. The ideal candidate can effectively translate complex or technical information into clear, engaging visual materials while maintaining accuracy, consistency, and strong production standards.
We are looking for someone who thrives in a collaborative environment where priorities can shift quickly, and project timelines may require rapid turnaround. The successful candidate must be comfortable managing multiple assignments simultaneously, responding to urgent requests, and maintaining professionalism and attention to detail under pressure. Some projects may require flexibility outside of standard business hours to support deadlines, client needs, or high-visibility deliverables.
In addition to graphic design responsibilities, this role may support multimedia and digital communication efforts including basic video editing, motion graphics, social media visuals, and digital storytelling. Strong organizational skills, file management practices, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams are essential.
The ideal candidate should also have an awareness of accessibility and usability standards for digital and print communications, including the importance of designing materials that support readability, accessibility compliance, and user experience across multiple platforms and audiences.

What You'll Do:

  • Creates print and digital materials for proposals, including templates, charts, maps, infographics, covers and layout.
  • Creates print and digital materials for presentations, including PowerPoints, leave-behinds, and display boards.
  • Creates print and digital materials for PR and internal communications, including brochures, ads, and announcements.
  • Brainstorms new ideas and creates concepts for visually communicating key messages.
  • Maintains and organizes digital assets such as icons, photography, and stock graphics.
  • Coordinates with print vendors and photographers.
  • May review and approve final graphics.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

What You'll Need:

  • Associates Degree in Art, Graphic Design or related field and 3 years of relevant experience, or
  • In lieu of education 5 years of relevant experience

What You'll Bring:

  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, including InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and After Effects

  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including PowerPoint and Word, with the ability to create polished presentations, templates, and branded documents

  • Strong understanding of typography, layout, branding, accessibility, and visual hierarchy across digital and print platforms

  • Ability to translate complex or technical information into clear, visually engaging communication materials

  • Experience developing graphics, infographics, presentations, newsletters, and public-facing communication assets

  • Experience using digital email marketing platforms such as Mailchimp or Constant Contact

  • Strong attention to detail, proofreading, and quality control skills

  • Excellent organizational and file management abilities, including version control and maintenance of shared digital assets

  • Understanding of accessibility and usability standards, including familiarity with Section 508 and Web Content Accessibility Guidelines considerations

  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and produce accurate, high-quality work within established deadlines

  • Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
