The Growth Marketing Director drives sustainable revenue growth through data‑driven acquisition, retention, and lifecycle marketing strategies across Cengage. You’ll have the opportunity to build and scale a high-impact growth engine and shape how we acquire and convert customers at scale, partnering closely with Portfolio, Product, Sales, and Marketing to accelerate customer and revenue growth.

What you'll do here:

Growth Strategy & Planning

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive growth marketing strategy aligned to business goals
  • Identify and prioritize high‑impact growth opportunities across the customer lifecycle
  • Own growth objectives and key results, forecasting, and performance reporting
  • Collaborate cross‑functionally with internal partners within Marketing, Portfolio, Product, Sales, etc.
  • Lead agencies and external partners as needed

Acquisition & Demand Generation

  • Lead multi‑channel acquisition strategies (paid media, SEO, content, partnerships, referrals, ABM, etc.)
  • Optimize CAC, LTV, and conversion rates through experimentation and testing
  • Oversee campaign planning, execution, and optimization

Lifecycle & Retention

  • Build and scale lifecycle marketing programs (onboarding, engagement, upsell, retention)
  • Partner with Product and Customer teams to improve activation and reduce churn
  • Leverage marketing automation and personalization

Experimentation & Analytics

  • Establish a strong experimentation culture (A/B testing, cohort analysis, funnel optimization)
  • Use data and insights to inform decisions and continuously improve performance
  • Partner with Analytics to define metrics, dashboards, and attribution models

Skills you will need here:

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in growth, performance, or digital marketing
  • Proven track record of driving measurable growth in revenue, users, or pipeline
  • Deep expertise in paid acquisition channels (Google, Meta, etc.)
  • Strong analytical mindset with hands‑on experience using data to inform decisions
  • Experience with experimentation frameworks and marketing technology stacks
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and partner management skills
  • Experience in B2B / B2C / SaaS / e‑commerce
  • Familiarity with CRM, marketing automation, and analytics tools
  • Experience scaling growth in a fast‑paced or high‑growth environment

The full base pay range has been provided for this position. Individual base pay will vary based on work schedule, qualifications, experience, internal equity, and geographic location.  Sales roles often incorporate a significant incentive compensation program beyond this base pay range.

In this position,  you will be eligible to participate in the company’s discretionary incentive bonus program.  This position's bonus target amount, which is not guaranteed and is dependent on individual performance and overall company results among other factors, is provided below.  

25% Annual: Individual Target
$138,200.00 - $179,650.00 USD
