About the Team

OpenAI's Marketing team helps customers understand, adopt, and get value from OpenAI's products and platform. The SMB Ads Marketing team is building the growth engine for small and medium-sized business advertisers: helping them discover the platform, sign up, launch campaigns, understand performance, and grow spend over time.

We take a data-driven approach to understanding customer needs, market dynamics, and funnel behavior. We partner closely with Product, Engineering, Data Science, Sales, Partnerships, Marketing Operations, Design, and Communications to create a cohesive end-to-end advertiser experience and help businesses unlock value from OpenAI's advertising platform.

About the Role

We are hiring a Growth Marketing Manager, SMB Ads to help build and execute high-velocity growth programs for small business advertisers. This person will work across acquisition, activation, lifecycle, and conversion, with an initial focus on helping advertisers move from interest and sign-up to first meaningful spend & retention over time

This is a hands-on growth role for someone who loves turning ideas into shipped experiments. You will build campaigns, lifecycle journeys, landing page tests, messaging tests, audience experiments, AI-assisted workflows, reporting improvements, and practical conversion programs. As the SMB Ads business grows, this role may continue to support acquisition and activation and expand deeper into same-store growth, lifecycle, retention, and repeat spend.

In This Role, You Will:

  • Execute growth experiments across acquisition, activation, lifecycle, and early retention.

  • Build email, in-product, landing page, audience, messaging, and offer tests that help SMB advertisers reach first spend and repeat value.

  • Use AI tools to prototype marketing assets, automate workflows, analyze funnel data, generate creative variations, and build internal growth systems.

  • Partner with Growth, Product, Engineering, Data Science, and Marketing Operations to turn strategy into shipped experiments and measurable learnings.

  • Support improvements to sign-up, onboarding, campaign creation, measurement, and advertiser education.

  • Maintain experiment documentation, QA checklists, learnings, and performance readouts.

  • Translate ambiguous growth ideas into concrete tests, campaign plans, launchable assets, and clear next steps.

  • Help identify new ways to convert, activate, retain, and grow SMB advertisers.

You Might Thrive in This Role If You:

  • Have experience in growth marketing, lifecycle marketing, GTM engineering, marketing operations, product growth, demand generation, or performance marketing.

  • Have shipped campaigns, experiments, automations, landing page tests, lifecycle programs, or conversion initiatives.

  • Are comfortable working across ambiguous, fast-moving growth problems with incomplete information.

  • Can interpret funnel metrics, campaign performance, experiment results, and customer behavior signals.

  • Are fluent with AI tools and use them to accelerate marketing execution, workflow automation, analysis, personalization, prototyping, or internal tooling.

  • Have strong writing and customer judgement, especially for translating product value into clear SMB-facing messaging.

  • Enjoy working across Marketing, Product, Engineering, Data Science, and Operations.

  • Have experience with SMB growth, self-serve funnels, advertiser growth, PLG SaaS, marketplaces, commerce, fintech, local services, creator tools, or other high-volume customer funnels.

  • Have experience with lifecycle marketing, CRM, segmentation, activation, onboarding, winback, or retention programs.

  • Have familiarity with ads products, SMB acquisition, campaign setup, advertiser education, or self-serve growth funnels, including platforms such as Google Ads, Meta Ads, TikTok for Business, Amazon Ads,, Reddit, Snap or similar.

  • Are comfortable using no-code or low-code tools, analytics tools, marketing automation platforms, SQL, scripting, or AI-assisted coding workflows to create leverage.
