Blackletter is reinventing legal services from first principles.

We pair frontier automation with top-tier lawyers. This allows our firm to deliver elite legal services with fast turnaround, predictable pricing, and a transformed experience for our clients and for the lawyers doing the work.We are serving a growing roster of clients across venture financing, commercial, corporate, and employment, and we are backed by leading venture investors.

Our founding team brings experience from frontier AI labs, leading law firms, and some of the top law schools in North America.

The most impactful firm in the world ten years from now will not be one founded in the 1900s, or the 1800s. It was founded in 2026. We are a small team making our earliest hires, with a significant opportunity to shape not only our company, but the entire legal profession.

The Role

As our GTM Lead, your mandate spans the full go-to-market: make every founder, General Counsel, and ops leader who could use Blackletter know we exist, get them into the pipeline, close them, and shape the strategy that scales all of it.

This is a builder's role. One day you're sharpening our point of view and getting it heard, the next you're running a pricing conversation with a founder, adjusting our strategy based on your learnings, turning our investors and customers into an amplification engine, closing a new client, landing a partnership that puts us in front of hundreds of companies at once, or showing up at a founders event to build our network.

You'll drive GTM creatively, relentlessly, and in a way that builds a premium brand worthy of a law firm, not a growth-hacked one. We're defining a new category, and how the market comes to understand it is largely yours to shape.

This is an exceptionally high impact role at a fast growth startup. It's a career and impact accelerant for the right person.

This role is based in the San Francisco Bay Area -- where our clients, investors, and network are concentrated.

What You Will Do

  • Drive go-to-market end to end -- strategy, awareness, demand gen, partnerships and sales -- and work with the CEO to decide where to place the bets
  • Run the full sales cycle with founders, General Counsels, and ops leaders, from first touch through signed engagement letter
  • Show up where founders are -- demo days, dinners, and founder events across SF -- meeting companies that could benefit from us and turning conversations into pipeline
  • Get creative on messaging and medium, finding ways to break through the noise and reach prospects
  • Open new channels through partnerships -- accelerators, VCs, and other firms that sit between us and prospective clients
  • Develop the playbook -- messaging, pricing conversations, objection handling -- and refine it with every deal

Who We Are Looking For
  • Profile: Former founder, current investor ready to move to the operating side, or the first business hire at a strong startup -- strongly preferred. Ideally, you've done zero-to-one and/or one-to-ten, and you miss it.
  • Builder: You've always been a builder -- you're not someone who likes to sit still. And you can speak to those experiences.
  • Range over depth: You're as comfortable shaping a narrative and running discovery calls as you are thinking about pricing or channel strategy. Generalist skillset is important for us.
  • Distribution instinct: You think first about where trust already lives -- which founders, investors, and communities our buyers listen to.
  • Owner: You will act like someone who owns this company. You see a problem, and you fix that problem. You want your fingerprints on a company -- and an entire profession -- as it's built. You operate at levels 4 and 5 on this framework.
  • Ambitious: You want to accelerate your career. Taking on outsized responsibility at a fast growing & high impact startup is your path to doing it.

San Francisco and the surrounding Bay Area attracts more startup funding than any other region in the world. Home to Stanford University and UC Berkeley, leading VC firms and several of the world’s most valuable companies, the Bay Area is the place to go for anyone looking to make it big in the tech industry. That said, San Francisco has a lot to offer beyond technology thanks to a thriving art and music scene, excellent food and a short drive to several of the country’s most beautiful recreational areas.

Key Facts About San Francisco Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 365,500; 13.9% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Google, Apple, Salesforce, Meta
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, fintech, consumer technology, software
  • Funding Landscape: $50.5 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
