The Team

The founders (Catheryn and Zach) met while running software teams at YC, where they shipped tons of new products for YC founders, including YC’s co-founder matching site. Cat previously worked at Instagram and Facebook and earned degrees in math and computer science at MIT. Zach previously studied computer science and statistics at U Chicago and led software at PEAK6. We have grown into a strong team of 20+ and are continuing to scale quickly.

About the Role

Simple is looking for a current MBA student to complete a short GTM research project supporting ICP and market analysis. You’ll build a structured company dataset that the team can use for segmentation and downstream GTM work.

What You'll Do
  • Turn Simple’s ideal customer profile into clear company-search criteria.

  • Build, clean, and deduplicate a dataset of approximately 100,000 target companies using approved data sources.

  • Include core fields such as company name, website, location, industry, size, revenue or funding signals, and source.

  • Share an initial sample for review, then deliver the final spreadsheet with brief methodology and segmentation notes.

What You'll Need
  • Current MBA student with strong research and analytical skills.

  • Comfortable working with large spreadsheets and company databases.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.

  • Access to PitchBook, Capital IQ, or an equivalent program subscription

Details
  • Remote and asynchronous, 5–10 hours per week for 2–3 weeks.
