Why Join AngelList

We’re solving some of the hardest problems in venture capital and private markets. You’ll work with a team that values precision, urgency, and long-term thinking. If you want to shape how startups are funded and built, this is the place.

About AngelList

We exist to accelerate innovation by increasing the number of successful startups in the world. We do this by building the financial infrastructure that makes it easier for more people to invest in world-changing companies.

AngelList is the nexus of venture capital and the startup community. We support $171B+ in assets and have powered investments into over 13,000 startups—over 300 of which are unicorns. Today, 57% of top-tier U.S. VC deals involve investors on AngelList. While our scale is large, our ambition is larger.

If you're excited to build the future of private markets, come build with us.

About the Role

AngelList is hiring a Head of Anti-Money Laundering to join our Compliance team in New York or San Francisco (hybrid). This role sits at the intersection of fintech innovation and regulatory integrity. You'll own the AML program and compliance relationship with our banking partners end-to-end, keeping our partner network healthy and our programs exam-ready as we scale.

Day-to-day, you'll serve as the go-to compliance contact for the banks we work with, building real trust with our counterparts. Internally, you'll work closely with our KYC/TM Ops, Product, and Engineering teams optimizing process and systems. You'll also be a core contributor to the compliance buildout for Nova, meaning your fingerprints will be on something new, not just something inherited. What makes this role rare: you're not joining a large bank compliance department where you're one of fifty. You're the person. Partners will know your name, and what you build here will actually matter.

If you're energized by the idea of owning something important at a company that moves fast and takes compliance as a competitive advantage, this is your seat. You'll get real scope, real relationships, and a front-row view of how fintech compliance gets built right.

What You’ll Do

You'll own the AML/BSA program — drafting and maintaining policies that actually govern how the business operates, not just documents that live in a folder. You'll develop risk assessments for BSA/AML and OFAC/Sanctions, keep policies current as programs and regulations evolve, and make sure the right teams know when things change.
On the banking partner side, you'll run the monthly compliance reporting cycle, serve as the primary compliance contact across all partners, lead partner meetings, and stay ahead of issues before they become escalations. You'll maintain a clear tracker of obligations and open items across every relationship.
Internally, you'll work closely with KYC/TM Ops, Product, and Engineering — not just to support their work, but to improve the systems and processes underneath it. You'll also be a core contributor to compliance buildout for Nova and other products, which means you'll have real input on something new rather than inheriting what someone else built.

What we’re looking for

  • 8–10 years of AML/BSA compliance experience at a fintech, broker-dealer, bank, payment processor, or MSB.
  • Direct experience managing banking partner or sponsor bank relationships.
  • Hands-on familiarity with transaction monitoring, UARs/SARs, and CDD/EDD.
  • Strong working knowledge of FinCEN regulations, BSA, and OFAC. Experience working within Broker Dealer context helpful.
  • Experience with platforms like Alloy, Unit21, or Persona.
  • Clear written communication — the kind that makes compliance reports useful, not just complete.
  • And the organizational rigor to manage multiple concurrent deadlines without things slipping.

Working Here

If you don’t meet every requirement above, we still encourage you to apply. We value complementary strengths and operators who learn by doing.

  • Major Tech Employers: Google, Apple, Salesforce, Meta
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, fintech, consumer technology, software
