BitPay is looking for a high-performing Head of Business Development in California to drive growth and support strategic initiatives in the rapidly evolving crypto space.  Reporting to our Chief Marketing Officer, this role is ideal for a proven business development leader with experience in crypto or payments, who can leverage their senior-level network to source and initiate enterprise partnerships and deals. 

As part of our revenue-facing team, you’ll play a key role in expanding BitPay’s reach by working cross-functionally with stakeholders to identify and close new opportunities. Candidates must be based in California, ideally in Silicon Valley.

Responsibilities:
  • Identify and engage new enterprise clients and partners leveraging existing networks and proactive outreach.
  • Partner with the sales team to structure strategic deals and ensure seamless transitions during handoffs.
  • Collaborate with marketing to execute targeted outbound campaigns.
  • Participate in onboarding and sales training for new customers. 
  • Lead sales meetings representing BitPay, driving pipeline growth, and achieving key sales targets.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of sales activities, forecasts, and communication in the CRM system.
  • Gather market insights and customer feedback to inform our go-to-market and product strategies.
Requirements:
  • 10+ years of experience in enterprise partnerships or business development or strategic sales in the payments (Card, BNPL, Instant Payments, etc.) or crypto industries.
  • Demonstrated success in initiating and sourcing new enterprise deals and partnerships.
  • A strong enterprise and fintech network; Silicon Valley is a preferred.
  • Strong prospecting, influencing, and negotiation skills with a strategic approach to selling and closing deals.
  • Self-motivated, results-driven, and passionate about innovation and delivering results. 
  • Team-oriented with a focus on collective success.
  • Executive presence and strong communication skills; confident engaging C-suite and senior stakeholders.
  • Adaptable and confident working in a fast-paced, regulated, and constantly evolving industry.
  • Must be based in California, ideally in Silicon Valley.

  • The base salary range for this position is $200,000–$250,000 per year (based on experience, location, and qualifications), plus variable compensation through the MBO incentive program with on-target total compensation up to $345,000.   • Option to receive payment in cryptocurrency, along with a crypto match program.
