About Positron AI

Positron designs purpose-built silicon and systems that dramatically reduce the cost and energy footprint of AI inference. Atlas (FPGA) is shipping today; Asimov (ASIC) will tape-out in Q3 2026 with production in early 2027. We work with cloud, enterprise, and AI platform partners to scale next-generation inference.

About the role

We are hiring a Head of Business Operations to act as a force-multiplier for the CEO and leadership team, owning mission-critical operational programs across finance, investor relations, GTM, vendor management, and company-wide execution.

This is a multi-faceted, high-initiative role: part chief-of-staff, part strategic operator, part builder. The ideal candidate thrives in ambiguity, handles competing priorities calmly, and can independently take a zero-to-one project from draft → plan → execution → measurement.

What You’ll Own (Responsibilities)

1. Finance Operations & Audit Readiness
  • Lead preparation for audited financial statements, including coordination with external auditors, the controller, and department leads.
  • Set up and maintain financial controls, close calendars, revenue schedules, and burn forecasting models.
  • Partner with Legal and operations to improve cash operations, AP/AR rhythm, contract processing, and spending transparency.
  • This person is the finance team of the company for the initial stages
2. Investor Relations (IR) & Fundraising Support
  • Draft and maintain investor-facing materials, including the fundraising decks, data room, technical memos, FAQs, and quarterly updates.
  • Maintain the investor pipeline, drive follow-ups, prepare CEO/CTO briefing docs, and manage investor diligence processes.
  • Assemble and continuously update Positron’s metrics dashboards, market analyses, and financial narratives.
3. Strategic & Cross-Functional Projects
  • Drive zero-to-one initiatives across GTM, Finance, People Ops, and Supply Chain—whatever the company requires.
  • Own and come up with special projects such as new commercial structures - both financial and on sales side
  • Work directly with the CEO on competitive analysis, pricing, and strategy docs.
4. Vendor, Partner & Contract Operations
  • Negotiate commercial terms and coordinate with legal for MSAs, SOWs, procurement flows, and vendor performance management.
  • Manage relationships with hyperscaler partners, OSAT/foundry liaisons, and external consultants.
5. Internal Execution, Systems & Process
  • Establish the operating cadence of the business: OKRs, meeting rhythms, project trackers, and cross-team communication loops.
  • Create scalable workflows for knowledge management, documentation, and cross-functional decision-making.
  • Support onboarding for business roles and ensure new hires understand expectations, systems, and deliverable timelines.
6. Communications & Narrative Development
  • Draft internal memos, one-pagers, board updates, and company announcements.
  • Maintain a consistent company narrative across PR, recruiting materials, partners, and investors.
  • Translate technical content (silicon, memory architecture, inference economics) into crisp external messaging.

Qualifications

Required
  • 6–12+ years in: business operations, consulting, IB/VC/PE, chief-of-staff roles, finance/FP&A, or high-ownership startup positions.
  • Proven ability to take ambiguous problems and independently deliver finished work (docs, decks, models, processes).
  • Comfortable with finance (P&L, cap tables, budget models), investor relations, and vendor/contract workflows.
  • Exceptional writing and synthesis ability; mastery of slides, structured memos, and rigorous detail.
  • Highly organized, reliable, proactive, and comfortable managing multiple complex projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to work with engineering, product, and executives with minimal oversight.
Preferred
  • Experience in semiconductors, hardware, AI/ML infrastructure, or deep-tech environments.
  • Prior involvement in audits, fundraises, or M&A diligence.
  • Familiarity with regulatory programs (e.g., CHIPS, DOE, DoD, export controls) or government contracting.
  • Experience implementing ERP/financial systems and business process tooling.

Key Facts About San Francisco Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 365,500; 13.9% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Google, Apple, Salesforce, Meta
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, fintech, consumer technology, software
  • Funding Landscape: $50.5 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Sequoia Capital, Andreessen Horowitz, Bessemer Venture Partners, Greylock Partners, Khosla Ventures, Kleiner Perkins
  • Research Centers and Universities: Stanford University; University of California, Berkeley; University of San Francisco; Santa Clara University; Ames Research Center; Center for AI Safety; California Institute for Regenerative Medicine
