Head of Cloud Infrastructure Finance & Strategy

Location: Los Gatos, CA

THE OPPORTUNITY

Netflix is reshaping media and entertainment, and the technology behind it is what makes that possible. Cloud Infrastructure (running primarily on Amazon Web Services) and Open Connect content delivery are the foundation of the Netflix experience for 300M+ members around the globe. Our Technology Strategy & Analytics team ensures the foundation scales efficiently and helps engineering and business leaders make smart, infrastructure-aware decisions.

We're looking for a leader to oversee cloud infrastructure finance and strategy. You'll be the primary Finance & Strategy point of contact for our AWS relationship and the connection between commercial strategy, engineering priorities, and financial outcomes. You'll lead a team of managers and associates, partner with senior engineering and finance leaders, and have regular visibility with Netflix's executive team.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead our strategic and commercial relationship with AWS, including negotiations, commitments, and long-term capacity planning.
  • Partner with senior Engineering and Finance leadership to develop NFLX’s long-term cloud strategy to balance cost, performance, and innovation.
  • Build the multi-year view of cloud spend and unit economics, and turn it into clear recommendations for senior leadership.
  • Oversee the cloud efficiency program, setting the metrics, models, and cost-visibility tools our teams use to make decisions on their own.
  • Own cloud capacity planning across Netflix business lines.
  • Evaluate strategic options such as workload placement and build vs. buy.
  • Coach and grow a team of managers and analysts who lead cross-functional work with software engineers, data engineers, and data scientists.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • 12+ years of experience in cloud economics, infrastructure finance, or technology strategy at a cloud provider, large cloud consumer, technology company, or technology consulting firm.
  • Track record of leading complex, high-value vendor negotiations or strategic partnerships.
  • Strong analytical and financial modeling skills, with the ability to distill complex technical topics for non-technical audiences and senior leaders.
  • Comfort partnering with engineers and understanding how architecture choices drive cost.
  • Experience leading and developing people, including managers.
  • Curiosity, sound judgment, and a high standard of integrity, with the candor to give and receive direct feedback.
  • Comfort exploring data on your own. SQL or a scripting language like Python is a plus, since we're a self-service, data-driven team.
  • Experience with streaming, media, or large-scale consumer products; familiarity with data systems (e.g., Cassandra, Spark, Trino); a degree in a quantitative field such as economics, engineering, or computer science.

Generally, our compensation structure consists solely of an annual salary; we do not have bonuses. You choose each year how much of your compensation you want in salary versus stock options.
